Is this the 70's ?

I've written a few posts about great music from the 70's recently but - dude, are we BACK there? Have you SEEN the concert tours for this summer?

Jethro Tull
Ted Nugent
The Police
Rush
Peter Frampton
Genesis
Roger Waters
Heart

Probably lots more too...

I really don't have a point other than all us old people still dig our tunes!

(did anyone else have black light posters?)

Sadly, no. The Genesis line-up isn't the classic 70s line-up, but the pop/schmalz line-up of 1978 to the 1990s. Sniff sniff.

It just goes to show that the 70s was the greatest decade ever, musically.

I am dying to see Tull but it seems as if I'm the only one I know who is willing to pay $80 to see him. What a shame...

David - you're right about that :(

Bruce - I AGREE!

Jeff, it should be a crime to charge so much for tickets. I paid $150 a piece for Roger Waters - what was I thinking? I guess I was thinking - what the hell, its only money....

The only ones I suspect are still good are Nuge, Rush and Roger Waters. I'd even be skeptical of Waters if I hadn't seen him and know how good a show he does. The Police are the one I'd probably least like to see, but that's because I hate Sting so much. I loved the Police, but Sting comitted the greatest of all rock sins, he grew up and played for adults. The light jazz stuff he's done as a solo artist is so tired. Plus, he's like the poster child for fake liberals. As a real liberal, I resent that. I know it's a dumb thing to be bitter about, but Sting gets under my skin. I'd love to see Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers without Sting though.

By the way, I agree that it should be a crime to charge so much for tickets to a rock show. No ticket should be unaffordable to the average teenager.

Jeff - Do you think Tull would still have it? They were pretty erratic over the years, so I'd be hesitant. If I thought I'd get something on par with their early 70s stuff, I'd be interested for sure. I'd just be worried that I'd be disappointed. Still, I think you're more the prog expert than I am, so I suspect your intuitions may be correct.

Yes, I will be there. Ticket prices are not that high in Holland.

This proves that the saying "Rock and Roll will never die" is true!
