Are You Ready for Chickenfoot?

I find it extremely interesting that the new band "Chickenfoot" is the second most popular search term used to find this blog (#1 - "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band", don't ask me why!). There has been a debate going on in my comments for months. Apparently people have strong opinions of this "superstar" group.

So I'm very interested to hear their sound and find out what the buzz our there is about their music. This clip below is om their official website, not sure what it says about these guys but anyone who would name their band "Chickenfoot" is not worried about what people think. That gives me hope that the music may actually be....good???

I have to admit, I loved Sammy back in his solo days. I'll never forget the show he put on when "Street Machine" came out. On stage he had a RED TransAm, a huge red grand piano, of course red instruments and outfits, and he swung around on a red rope. He was pretty wild. Kept jumping on the car and the piano doing all this really crazy stuff. When I was a 19 year old - he was very entertaining, today....not so much.

Pearl Jam - Review

I've realized something in recent months - I am not very good at reviewing music. Sure, I can give you my opinion on what I like, but when asked to review something that is not something I would typically listen to, I am at a loss for words.

Writing this blog has allowed me the privilege of receiving CDs and DVDs on a weekly basis to review. I turn down most offers but curiosity gets the best of me and I agree to review about half of them.

Right now, I have fallen way behind. Sitting here on my desk is:

Pearl Jam "Live at the Gorge" (CD) (Becky - want it?)

I don't want to shirk my duties as a reviewer....but I sure could use some help. If any of you would like one of these items to review on your blog please email me with your address and I will mail it to you!

For now, I will put in Pearl Jam. AND I won't accept any more offers to review music until I am caught up!

UPDATE!

Ok, I could NOT handle Pearl Jam but I am finding Bryan Ferry's covers on Bob Dylan very interesting. If you like him and like Dylan - you will like this CD! Its so different hearing the lyrics in such a smooth, slow voice. "Along the Watchtower" was very especially intriguing.

Sammy Hagar

Quick, what's the first thing that pops into your mind when you hear the name Sammy Hagar?

If you said Van Halen...you may have missed out on Sammy's career as The Red Rocker.

While David Lee was doing his acrobatics in spandex Sammy was in the middle of his own successful career. SAMMY HAGAR's live performances was LOUD, CRAZY and WILD!

I don't remember what year I saw him (too lazy too research it) but I would guess it was around 1985. The band opening for him was Quarterflash (one hit wonder "Harden My Heart).

On stage with Sammy was a huge red piano, some other stuff I can't remember and a red Trans Am with the classic license plate that said "IEATZ28". There was also a ladder and a trapeze type get-up. Sammy did not stop moving all night. He was jumping on the car, running around with his RED guitar, swinging from the trapeze, climbing the ladder. He was a madman and the crowd loved him. It was a great show.

So, three cheers for the Red Rocker BEFORE he became known as the front-man for VH!!!
