Happy Birthday, Jim.  I know I'm a day late in wishing you one, but you know how its been the last 30 years - the focus has been on John on December 8th.  You probably understand and don't mind people remembering his death before your birth...but I just wanted you to know, I didn't forget.

Oh, and btw, I heard you were being pardoned for your "indecent exposure" charge all those years ago.  Times have changed, its amazing what people do on stage these days.  I doubt that you were indecent at all...maybe just a little feisty.

Happy Birthday, Greg Lake

Greg has been in two very classic rock bands, King Crimson and Emmerson, Lake and Palmer, as well as having a solo career.  In addition to being a great bass player, I believe Greg has one of the sexiest voices ever.  Could listen to him all day, all night.

On a personal note, ELP was one of the first concerts I saw back in my high school days.  (I can still see myself sitting next to Brad C. in his little VW Bug with surf photos laminated all over the dash, I think there may have been some "reefer" involved!  Was it really that long ago?)

Robert is one of my all time favorite vocalists...and I will never, ever tire of watching "The Song Remains the Same" or any other video of Zeppelin. Hope he has a great birthday (even though I'm still disappointed in him for not wanting to do a reunion....)

I've always liked Mick, there's just something about his cockiness and flamboyancy that makes me smile. From what I understand he's also a brilliant businessman and a devoted father. So I with him a happy 66th and many more to come.

As for the music of the Rolling Stones, they lost me after Tattoo You in '81 but really their best work (imo) was the late 60's - early 70's.

I almost missed his birthday but luckily several other bloggers wrote about i. I just got done watching this video over at Rock and Roll Blog (a great blog to visit).

This is Santana performing at Woodstock and its INSANE how great it is. Carols shreds and Michael Shrieve (who is a baby in this - only 19!) gives one of the best drum solos I've ever seen. No kidding. Plus you gotta love the audience :) for once they show naked guys instead of naked women. I like that for a change.

Nils has always been my favorite member of the E Street Band because of his talent and also his personality and generostiy.  He's just a  nice guy!

I love this song....it takes me to an exact moment in time, at an exact location...and each time I happen to be driving on that road, on that exact sharp curve above Pacific Coast Hwy. in Laguna Beach - this song immediately begins "playing" in my mind.

Happy Birthday Marvin Gaye - You are Missed!

I don't like to admit this, but those of you who know me are probably aware that music makes me emotional. As I watched several videos of the late Marvin Gaye, I cried. It was hard to choose just one video to post in honor of his birthday. This one will always be my favorite:



Marvin's father shot and killed him on April 1. One day before his 45th birthday. I remember watching the news, absolutely incredulous, it was a double shock...he was dead at the hands of his own father.



I can't mention Marvin without also pointing out that this man has more raw sensuality in his little pinky than some men do in their entire bodies. Damn.

George would have been 66 years old today.
