Annie Lennox will be honored with the British Red Cross' Services to
Humanity Award in London on June 12th in recognition of her "significant humanitarian role she has played throughout her career."
(Congrats to Annie, she deserves it)

The publicist for Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora has refuted rumors that he would replace Poison frontman Bret Michaels in the next season of VH1's Rock Of Love.
(Hasn't he made enough of an ass out of himself already?)

Metallica's MissionMetallica. com site will go live on May 12th allowing fans to experience their new studio album before it's done.
(Very cool - should be interesting)

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will release their Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! book on June 23rd. The 46-page hardback four-inch square book is composed of handwritten lyrics and notes by Cave, photos, illustrations, an interview and a 3-inch single of the title track.

Gleaned a few items from today's edition of "The 80's Nut Newsletter":

Pink Floyd will see their entire studio discography bundled under thetitle Oh By The Way for release as a 16-disc limited edition (only10,000 will be pressed) set on Dec. 4th via Capitol/EMI. Each album(from their 1967 debut, The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, up to 1994'sfinal album, The Division Bell,) is a reproduction of the originalvinyl release. Live albums, compilations and rarities sets are notamong the releases in the set.

Lenny Kravitz has sent out the first two singles ("I'll Be Waiting"and "Bring It On") from his upcoming album, Love Revolution, to radiostations.

Former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony has formed his own trio, MadAnthony Express, which performs some cover songs as well as some 'moreobscure' Van Halen tracks. Anthony has said that the trio (whichfeatures the guitarist and drummer from Sammy Hagar's Wabos) couldpush him to launching his own group or recording project.


A new book entitled The Encyclopaedia Metallica will be released viaChrome Dreams on Nov. 1st. The paperback is compiled from exclusiveinterviews with the band. Meanwhile, the group's new studio album isexpected to be released in February.

Last night I met a need I've had for months -
I fed my soul with
rock and roll!

There is NOTHING like listening to and watching a talented band perform. I had an incredible evening filled with great music.

These guys totally rocked. They are all accomplished musicians that have toured and recorded with some great bands (Otis Rush, Walter Trout, Blue Oyster Cult, Loggins & Messina, Mahogany Rush, Grand Funk Railroad, and Eric Burdon, and others).

They cover rock, blues, funk, reggae...you name it. I had three requests and they played them all (I was actually embarrassed that I requested Springsteen - but they pulled out a good one of his that fit in with their set "Cover Me").

Check out there myspace and webpage. If you live in So. Cal. you must check them out! They had an "open mic" night and several other musicians showed up to jam with them - this one guy on guitar, Tim Tewel, was very impressive.

There was some hot talent on that stage last night, plus, they were super nice guys. I showed up alone but they sat at my table so I got to hang with the band instead of sitting there by myself, it made a huge difference in my night!

Well, I know what I am going to do every Wed. night from now on!
Of course getting 4.5 hours of sleep will probably hit me later, but for now I am listening to CCR and smiling!

The 80's Nut Newsletter

I am going to start a few new things this year. I know most of you stay up to date on all this related to music, but one source of info I ALWAYS find something "new" on is Martin's "The 80's Nut Newsletter". Of course you can subcribe to it yourself and get all the scoop, but I will put some highlights that interest me here each week starting right NOW:

Queen guitarist Brian May recently confirmed on his Web site that a
film about Freddie Mercury is in the early stages. Rumors claim that
Johnny Depp is in the running for the part. Depp was supposedly in

"in the running" to play the lead in an upcoming Ozzy Osbourne biopic.

Daryl Hall and John Oates' rendition of "It Came Upon A Midnight
Clear" has taken the #1 spot on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart.
(personal note about me and Daryl - did you know he used to be my boyfriend back in the 80's???? No? Well, you're not alone, he never knew either but I sure did love him :)


David Bowie recently told New York magazine, "I'm fed up with the
industry and I've been fed up for quite some time. I'm taking a year
off -- no touring, no albums."

Aretha Franklin has been recording a new studio album with many
featured guests. Aretha: A Woman Falling Out Of Love will be released
in the first quarter of 2007 via her Aretha's Records label. Franklin
co-produced and co-wrote many of the tracks.

Bono will be given an honorary knighthood early next year the British
ambassador to Ireland, David Reddaway. Because he is an Irish citizen
and not British, he will not be entitled to use the title "Sir." The
singer was given a similar honor in France in 2003, Legion D'Honneur.

The Flaming Lips will be performing live on the Oklahoma Centennial
Birthday Float at this year's Rose Parade on Jan. 1st.
