John Fogerty - Revival

I was asked to review the new John Fogerty CD, Revival, and in two words: It Rocks. I admit I am a bit surprised by how much I enjoy it. I forgot how much I like this "Southern Swamp Rock" sound.

I have listened to it a few times now and am reminded what a talented artist John is. His voice is so distinct, hard to believe he's not from the South (he's a Californian like yours truly).

He created a sound back in the late 60's with these CLASSIC songs: "Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising," "Rockin' All Over the World," "Have You Ever Seen the Rain", "Born on the Bayou" and "Fortunate Son". This is his first solo album in 35 years!

Revival is Fogerty's first album of new material on Fantasy following a very public 30-year battle with the label over his catalog. The reconciliation led to the first complete retrospective of his career, The Long Road Home, which came out in late 2005. Fogerty calls seeing the Fantasy logo on his new record is nothing short of "surreal."

THE ROCK 'N' ROLL HALL OF FAMER'S FIRST ALBUM OF NEW MATERIAL ON FANTASY RECORDS IN 35 YEARS IS HIS 'TRUEST' SOLO RECORD

So mark your calendar's for October 2 and buy a copy of this CD when your standing in line at Starbucks for your Latte Grande. (somehow Fogerty and Starbucks don't seem to go together).

Trivia "(John) Is a staunch opponent of president George W. Bush's policies. Ironically, Bush has called "Centerfield" his favorite song, and it is reportedly one of the songs on Bush's iPod. Although not a supporter of his, Fogerty was reportedly amused by this."
