RRHOF vs Ed Sullivan
Ok, all the COOL (and lucky) people got to watch the RRHOF concert on HBO tonight. I am watching a public TV station doing "Ed Sullivan's Rock and Roll", which, is classic. I rather be watching what Starr talks about (see comments on the last post) but I will settle for Herman's Hermits, The Animals, The Beatles, The Doors, The Stones....
"Ladies and Gentlemen, the ROLLING stones"
They won't allow me to embed the vid, but its worth a cruise over to YouTube to check out an extrememly young Mick Jagger when Brian Jones was still in the band...

On the Cover of the Rolling Stone...
LOVE IT!
Do any of you remember this songby Dr. Hook? Its a fun one!
Well we are big rock singers, we've got golden fingers
And we're loved everywhere we go
We sing about beauty and we sing about truth
At ten thousand dollars a show
We take all kind of pills to give us all kind of thrills
But the thrill we've never known
Is the thrill that'll get you when you get your picture

Happy Birthday Mick!
I've always liked Mick, there's just something about his cockiness and flamboyancy that makes me smile. From what I understand he's also a brilliant businessman and a devoted father. So I with him a happy 66th and many more to come.
As for the music of the Rolling Stones, they lost me after Tattoo You in '81 but really their best work (imo) was the late 60's - early 70's.

I Saw Her Standing There
This is video is too fun! See how many people you can recognize here. I'll name the obvious ones: Billy Joel, Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr, George Harrison and Bruce (who forgets the lines to the song - lol). It was 1988 and these boys looked YOUNG. I guess we all looked pretty dang young 20 years ago no matter old we are today!
I don't know what the occasion of this video is, anyone know?

Irreplaceable "Frontmen"
Which Rock Frontmen are irreplaceable?
I'll explain what I mean. An irreplaceable frontman is a lead vocalist that, upon leaving the band, causes the band to lose its popularity without him.
For example, David Lee Roth is replaceable because Van Halen did fine without him.
What would have happened if Robert Plant, Mick Jagger, Roger Daltrey Jim Morrison, or Bono left their perspective bands for a solo career?
Which bands have lost their lead vocalist and become less successful?
Journey?
Black Sabbath?
Bad Co.?
INXS?

Mick
Happy Birthday, Mick!
I'm a few days early, but wanted to wish Mick a Happy 62 and thank him for bringing me many years of great music. The very first rock poster that adorned my bedroom wall when I was a kid was MICK :) My parents thought he was ugly and were very worried about me. They had cause to worry, but Mick is a doll!
Sir Michael Philip "Mick" Jagger (born 26 July 1943 in Dartford, Kent) is a British rock musician, actor, writer, composer, record and film producer and businessman. He is most famous for being the lead singer and co-founder (with guitarist Brian Jones) of the British rock and roll band The Rolling Stones. He is also the songwriting partner of Stones guitarist Keith Richards, and the pair have composed almost all the Rolling Stones' original material, as well as numerous songs for other artists.
