Albums from 1975

Ok, moving ahead 5 years from the last post (20 favorite songs from 1970) we enter into 1975. Not a good year for me personally, my father was very ill that year and died right before Christmas. So - my music listening that year was limited to all my old stuff plus a few new albums that I listened to over and over.

Instead of listing songs from that year, I will list some albums and please leave a comment with your favorite albums from 1975.

1. Wish You Were Here. Pink Floyd (best song: ALL).

2. Born to Run, Bruce Springsteen (best songs: ALL but if I have to pick I'd take "She's the One"

3. Physical Graffiti, Led Zeppelin (best song: "In the Light")

4. Blood on the Tracks, Bob Dylan (best song: "Shelter from the Storm)

5. Young Americans, David Bowie (best song: Young American)

6. Toys in the Attic, Aerosmith (best songs: Sweet Emotions, You See Me Crying)

7. Beautiful Loser, Bob Seeger (best songs: Beautiful Loser, Traveling Man)

8. Chicago VIII, Chicago (best songs: Never Been in Love Before, Any Way You Want It)

9. Fool for the City, Foghat (best songs: Slow Ride, Fool for the City)

10. There is no number ten!

Perhaps not a great year for rock albums Layla??

I can only add a couple from my own collection of the top of my head....

Dr. Feelgood - Down By The Jetty marked I think their recorded debut and is still a cracking album of UK pub rock.

Wings - Venus And Mars has a few good songs on it and probably the best line up of Wings McCartney assembled. If nothing else it provided the springboard for the excellent Rock Show tour and video.

Another couple come to mind....

Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow - s/t
and
Queen's A Night At The Opera

I'm with you on Wish You Were Here, Born to Run and Physical Grafitti and I also agree Rainbow and a Night at the Opera. I'd add Fleetwood Mac - s/t, Ted Nugent - s/t, Joni Mitchell - Hissing of Summer Lawns. It wasn't a great year.

I can't believe I left out QUEEN! Thanks, the ones you guys mentioned are good ones too. I don't think I was into Queen yet in '75....

Hmmm

My favorite is EASILY "Wish You Were Here." Probably after that would be "Blood on the Tracks."

No one mentioned Black Sabbath's Sabotage, KISS-Dressed to kill and Alive, Rush-Fly by night and Caress of steel and Budgie's Bandolier.

You missed the two best albums of 1975, which Mark caught: Rush's Fly by Night AND Rush's Caress of Steel!
