Here is the line-up:
- Rare Earth
- Earth, Wind and Fire
- Eagles
- Seals & Crofts
- Black Oak Arkansas
- Black Sabbath
- Deep Purple
- Emerson, Lake and Palmer
I didn't go to the first one (although I went to a similar one that year on a much smaller scale and got in big trouble with my parents who basically forbid me to attend).
I went to the second one they had four years later, 1978. It was CRAZY. The traffic was backed up for over 10 miles. I was in my mom's car with my little brother and some friends and a case of beer. My brother threw up in the car. Then the car broke down. So naturally I left it on the side of the road and we hitched a ride to and from the concert. My mom was not pleased by this but hey - you do what ya gotta do to hear great music live, right?
We sat in the sun all day with hardly any food or water and waited for hours in long lines to use the disgusting porta-potties. We couldn't really SEE the bands but we heard them. It was a great time :)
The line-up for this one:
- Aerosmith
- Foreigner
- Ted Nugent
- Heart
- Dave Mason
- Santana
- Bob Welch
- Mahogany Rush
- Rubicon

A true rocker fan. Ah, to be young again. Who got to clean the puke up? No, never mind, I don't want to know. While researching the fests, I would have rather been to the Cal Jam II vs. I, but when you get down to it any jam is worth it. Your description of the concert was similar to some I read about Summer Jam at Watkins Glen.
Sweet memories!!!!
Both great lineups! :) Sounds like you had a true concert experience! Awesome! I would just about kill to have seen Aerosmith back in the day!
I did the Watkins Glen Jam..what a show...these two look like they would have been fantastic
Yep, it was pretty fun but I would not want to do it again under those circumstances!
