Busted...

I was checking out The Rock Clock today to see if anything interesting happened on August 22. I found this story about Jefferson Airplane getting arrested before a show - Grace got mace in the face!. Then I found a marvelous photo of David Bowie's mug shot from an arrest in 1967 and had to share it! That David has always had so much class!

August 22, 1972
Not a great day in Jefferson Airplane history. First police receive a bomb threat before their show in Akron, Ohio. The heavy pig presence incenses the crowd, who throw rocks at a police car. The cops respond by using tear gas, which causes Airplane bassist Jack Casady to denounce them from the stage. He's arrested. Singer Grace Slick and guitarist Paul Kantner give chase after Casady is taken to the venue's basement and, after an exchange, Slick is maced in the face and Kantner is knocked to the floor by overzealous cops.

March 1976
Arrest on a felony pot possession charge. Bowie, 29 at the time, was nabbed along with Iggy Pop and two other codefendants at a Rochester hotel following a Saturday concert. Bowie was held in the Monroe County jail for a few hours before being released. The Rochester Police Department mug shot was taken three days after Bowie's arrest.

I think David Bowie looks like Larry Mullen Jr. in this photo!

How about Morrison getting busted for indecent exposure in Florida. Unless you were there in the front rows no one was really sure what he really did.

I wish I would have been there to see if he really did or not, my guess is that he didn't. The cops hated him and were just waiting for any excuse to bust him. That's my version of the story :)
