I'd love to hear your thoughts. I didn't watch it, I boycotted it because I think its a hypocritical way of gaining attention to the problem and adding to it rather than helping solve it.

I've got so much to say here, but it's really late and my brain has shut down for the night. This I will say; even though I lean a bit to the left politically(not SDS-style, but not centrist, either), I have nothing but disdain for Al Gore. He's nothing but an attention whore, and this "concert" did nothing to change my mind. I had forgotten it was today, and even if I had remembered, I wouldn't have watched it.
I agree about Gore. I don't think the environment has ever been truly important to him. He's making a fortune on global warming, just as the Democrats have made a fortune on poverty over the years (the Republicans aren't exempt, because they've made their money on paranoia and war). I believe that global warming can't be ignored (even if we're not sure that it's true), but Gore presents nothing but non-solutions. Until we face the fact that we're gross over-consumers and over-polluters and take real steps to change this, our environmental problems will not go away.
I DO believe in global warming and we MUST do something about it before it's too late.
I watched a lot of the show, used my DVR to save the rest, and I will watch the rest of it because of the musical performances. However, there was a lot of hypocrisy yesterday. Thank of all the cars on the road, and the emissions generated by them, just to get to the concerts. Think of all the power used for each performance. During Madonna's segment alone the light bulbs used produced enough heat to melt a glacier. Did anybody put on an acoustic show anywhere?

I wrote a post on it for my blog. I thought the performances were great but I think the show was a little misguided and could have been done better. I happen to like Gore though, I believe he is always a step ahead of the game and I think that is what does him in politically, for instance with the Internet, he realized its importance way back then and was totally correct. In politics you have to worry about the now and not the future. I think he truly cares about the environment, it's always been a focal point for him politically even when the environmental issue was the last thing on peoples minds. I think the main problem with the show is I forgot that it was about saving our earth, celeberties would come on for a minute to give a speech which sounded ridiculously scripted and not from the heart, Cameron Diaz for example couldn't remember any of her lines and was stumbling all over the place. It could have been much better.
