A dumb idea. Sgt. Peppers was never an in-entriety concert thing, so Cheap Trick doing it is silly. It's not even th best Beatles album--I'd rather they did Revolver or Abbey Road than this one!

But maybe they'll dress up in bad colored suits. That would be fun.

I'm with David. Abbey Road would have been better, but since it's the 40th anniversary of Sgt. Peppers I guess it's a nice thing.

Didn't Peter Frampton and the BeeGee's make a movie out of Sgt. Pepper's do any of you remember that?

I think it's a "cheap trick!"

Why can't people leave well enough alone? It didn't work for the Bee-Gees and Peter Frampton, and it won't work this time, either.

I agree one million percent. Nothing against Cheap Trick, but this just is not right.

I don't think I'd really want to listen to Cheap Trick do an entire Cheap Trick album, let alone a Beatles album.

They're certainly entitled to try.

Although, I think they'd be better served trying to create some new and original music of their own. Rather than perpetuate this cycle of living in the Beatles shadow, why not try to break out of it?

I can understand paying homage to the Beatles, given their impact to rock and roll it's certainly understandable and deserved. But so many other bands have either "been there, done that" or attempted to.

I'm surprised at the negativity of these comments! If Cheap Trick can pull it off, good for them. It will obviously take a fair amount of work on their part to live up to the expectations, especially playing the Hollywood Bowl.

It's not like they are a full time tribute band. They still produce and perform new music (the "Rockford" album from last year was decent, though not world-changing in any way) and tour frequently. They opened for Def Leppard in 2006. I think they have the instrumental prowess and pop versatility to do a credible job with this music, especially with the orchestral backing.

I actually did hear a Beatles tribute band at a free outdoor concert a few summers back and it was fun to hear their late-period music performed live. And yes, they did wear Sgt. Pepper costumes for the second half of the show.

The Frampton/BeeGees movie was a very poorly executed attempt to cash-in on the popularity of those two acts in the late 70's. They were both trying to step to the next level (into movie stardom) after the success of "Frampton Comes Alive" and "Saturday Night Fever." So the supposedly can't-miss formula of featuring them and other pop stars performing universally beloved Beatles songs seemed like the easy ticket to big box office.

The movie was a hideous, pitiful, humorless flop. Well, they tried to be funny, but the whole project was cursed... Beyond the forced whimsy, they took a terribly pandering approach, trying to throw in a little something for everybody (George Burns, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper and Steve Martin stick in my memory as particularly awkward lowlights.)

This isn't really a Cheap Trick concert per se. I'm pretty sure the Hollywood Bowl put together this event to honor the 40th anniversary of an album that many regard as the best rock album of all time (I disagree). They hired Cheap Trick as the house band and that's very appropriate. They will perform and back up the regular roster of special guests (Aimee Mann, Ministry, guy from Gomez, etc) as they pay tribute to the album and also attempt to recreate it in full (with orchestra) for the first time ever. Whether it's your bag or not, it's certainly a worthwhile endeavor. And the reviews of the show have been very favorable.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! This is a HORRIBLE idea. I love Cheap Trick have for years. I hope they haven't done this yet. If they have SHAME ON THEM!

PEOPLE NEED TO LEAVE THE BEATLES ALONE! I would never EVER touch that music out of respect for them. They are one of THE rock greats!

Yes, I know Zep falls into that catagory as well but somehow it has become acceptable to cover Rock & Roll and I have leared to live with that. Notice Stairway had not fallen into that catagory. People that do that are pretty much shunned by the rock commiunty.

So I'd think twice if I were them if it already hasn't been done. Because once you do it, it can't be undone.
