March 3rd, huh? I wonder how fantastic the new record will be. It's almost inconceivable that they'll release a stinker (I say almost, because of Zooropa, which just shows they can make mistakes).
It's up for pre-order on Amazon as well. 5 different versions including a vinyl set.
Thanks for the tip. I just pre-ordered the vinyl.
No problemo. I am bouncing back and forth on which to order. Bomb was just eh for me. I liked individual songs but the entire thing just didn't gel for me.
And Zooropa a mistake? I completely agree. To me it is one of their weakest outside of a few songs. Everyone slams POP and love Zooropa and for me it is exactly the opposite.
Yeah, I think after Achtung, everyone was afraid to say anything bad about U2, but the album was experimentation gone wrong. "Stay" was a good song and it seems to me there was another on there that I could stomach, but overall, it was terrible. I guess Pop took the heat for it though, which isn't fair because it's a really good album with at least a handful of downright great songs. It also had the cold Euro-pop image still, but it's a pretty intimate album.
I liked the last two albums, because I enjoyed hearing them get back to being a rock band. Neither is perfect, but both rank high with me.
They keep re-inventing themselves, so I wonder where this one will go. I'd really be shocked if they goofed.
Yeah Gone is one of my all time favorite U2 songs although Bono sure was not feeling so perky on that puppy. Oh and Staring At The Sun is right on up there for me as well.
Stay is the best song on Zoo although I have to say I love Lemon. Bono singing in his "fat black woman voice" just slays me. Numb was good too. Other than that, not so much. Babyface had potential but kinda went nowhere.
I should add that All That You Can't Leave Behind I LOVE. It is one of my favorite of their albums. Bomb had some really great songs, City of Blinding Lights being my favorite but it just didn't mesh for me.
It was one hell of a tour though. They were awesome. Hard to believe that was 4 years ago!
