My good buddy, Darrin, sent me an email last night with this sad news. Its much less shocking to hear bad news from a friend than an impersonal headline in the paper or on-line.

Any Boston memories you'd like to share? I know all of you my age remember them well. They were a "fun" rock band, not too heavy, not glamorous, just good music.

I saw them on their first headlining tour, with Sammy Hagar as the opening act. There was some bad weather that night(it was February), and the power went out in the middle of Sammy's set. It did come back on about 10 minutes later, so Boston was able to do their entire set. Tom was unbelievable on guitar, and Brad was just as good live as he was recorded.

And you're right; they were a fun band.

Their music was always lifted my spirits because it was good old rock and roll, nothing too heavy or thought provoking, just lets party, dance and have fun music. And the guys in the band seemed like decent blokes not arrogant like some rockers.

Delp was an excellent lead singer and could really get you "involved" in the song.

The vocals on More Than A Feeling were flawless.

They headlined Day on the Green # 1 for 1979, it was on of my first concerts and was the first of many Days on the Green. This ones hurts... not too sure why,

I never saw them on tour, but have all 4 of their albums. Always enjoyed Boston's music and Brad's voice.
