HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Eric Clapton

Mr. Clapton is 63 years old today.
What's your favorite song by him?

I'll give you a hint what mine is...he wrote it with Jim Gordon and recorded it when he was with Derek and the Dominoes....

It's kind of scary how parts of this first verse seem to be right where I'm at these days:

What'll you do when you get lonely
No one waiting by your side?
You've been running and hiding much too long.
You know it's just your foolish pride.

I can't believe I forgot it was EC's birthday. I've been praying to the altar of Clapton since his days in Cream, and of all the songs he recorded as part of a band, or solo, my favorite song of his is "My Father's Eyes". I lost my father when I was 26, and he was my closest friend, so the song reminds me of him.

Shame on you, Bruce! He's written some amazing songs over the years for sure. I can understand why that song is special to you.

Yup, your favorite is one of the best ... I've always loved White Room and She's Waiting.

I can't do it...there are those he wrote (Layla), those he covered (Crossroads) and those he played on (While My Guitar Gently Weeps). My favorite body of work is by EC.

My Father's Eyes is a great choice. Eric never really knew his dad and this song came out of him as he was becoming a father himself...great emotional expression.
