Los Angeles Rock and Roll Trivia

Spent the day up in LA trying to give Drew the rock and roll tour. I think I could have done a better job if I would have made out a better map...oh well.

How well do you know your LA Rock Trivia?

Do you know what the "Riot Hotel" is?

If so, can you name a few incidents that occured there?

Name three famous nightclubs on Sunset Strip.

Name five rock stars that have a star on the Hollywood "Walk of Fame".

There are two songs inspired by Mulholland Drive - can you name one?

Can you name three people who lived on Laurel Canyon?

Which record company has its home in a tall round building?

How many songs can you name that are about, or mention, Los Angeles, Hollywood, or any of the surrounding areas?

I will have some fun photos and some of the answers later.....

Laurel Canyon was/is home to Joni Mitchell(Graham Nash wrote "Our House" while living with her) Cass Elliott, Frank Zappa, Jackson Browne,Iggy Pop, Marilyn Manson,Anthony Kiedis,David Crosby KD Lang,Canned Heat and Danny Whitten(Neil Young's close friend and band member)...

Capitol Records has their home in a round bldg.

There are way too many songs about LA but my favorites are For What Its Worth by Buffalo Springfield,Going To California by the Mighty Zep...anything by Janes Addiction, Sunset Grill by Don Henley,Celluloid Heroes by the Kinks,Down Rodeo by Rage Against the Machine and of course the best one of all LA Woman by The Doors...

Free Falling references a "free fall over Mulholland".

The first three I've already discussed at length so I'll let others play.

Well the Eagles pretty much started at the Troubadour club in Los Angeles: that's where Glenn Frey and Don Henley met. :)

Since much has been covered, let's look at some fun stuff that went on at 8401 Sunset Blvd.

TVs flew out the windows by themselves.

Jim Morrison lived there for a bit. Probably relieved himself in the lobby at some point, too.

Golden gods occasionally appeared on the balconies.

An in-house helmet law was instituted for those who rode motorcycles in the hallways.

You always got an extra pillow if you asked for one.

Christopher Guest recommends the rooftop for your next imaginary end of tour party.

We hope that your stay at the Andaz West exceeded expectations. If you were not completely satisfied, please fill out the guest card in detail so that we can improve upon our services. Our aim is customer delight.

John Mayall had an album in 1968 named 'Blues from Laurel Canyon' on the Decca label...best I can do with that.

Just wanted to tell Layla that I like your Blog!

I think you covered the basics!

Seano recently performed at two spots on Sunset Strip, The Jimmy Kimmel Show and The Viper Room!
