But this story really has little to do with the music and everything to do with the love. My friend Charlie at Bloggerhythms passed it on to me and I thank him for the idea. Some of you may recognize this photo of a couple huddled together under a dirty blanket in a sea of people, many that are lying in the mud sleeping. The photo made the cover of the album and was also used on the movie poster.
The beautiful thing about it, this couple is STILL together, happily married after 40 years. There's a bit of irony in that since the "summer of love" didn't exactly promote loyalty and continuity :) But it did promote love and it warms my heart to see this couple today:

Aww that's lovely :) yaaayy for hippies!
That's pretty cool. Longevity in partnerships is a rare find these days.
I was glad to read that this couple is still together after 40 years. I have seen that iconic photo of them in the blanket many times but never gave any thought to who they were. Cool story.
How very cool....
Yay! Warm and fuzzy! I like that!
Well I'll be damned! That is amazing. The original picture is so well known that you forget that they are real people. Very touching.
That reminds me, I've been meaning to take a trip up to Bethel Woods for a year now, they've got a new Woodstock museum up there. If I do actually make the trip perhaps I can write a guest post or something.
SILVER! You're on, I would love that!
