Ah, those were the days...

I know many of us still have our vinyls!

Barb: This cartoon is hysterical. Where did you find it? I still have all of my vinyl (over 800 records) and I'm burning a lot of them to CD. I fail to see why people prefer LPs to CDs.

BTW vinyl lovers, tomorrow morning I'm posting about a new band, Edgehill Avenue, who would have sold millions back in the vinyl era. Southern rock fans should pay special attention!

Hilarious! Let's make t-shirts and sell them!

CHARLIE: Vinyl has a warmer sound than CDs to those of us who still prefer them over CDs

I am in the process of digitizing my collection - over 1,200...but I am using Audacity to try and replicate the warmth of vinyl..

Also holding an album is different than holding a CD...the album jackets were fun to read as the album played...

back in the days of albums the artists worked at sequencing their songs, where now with digital downloads, most CDs are burned with no thought to the sequence of the songs...

Just a few reasons..

BARB..I am stealing this cartoon..it is GREAT

Bond:

My problem with LP was the scratches, clicks and pops they all eventually received. CDs and mp3s are spotless. The clicks & pops drove me nuts.

Charlie, my sister sent it to me!

Seano, that's a brilliant idea!

Bond, bringing home a vinyl was an experience in itself. The artwork, the photos, lyrics, etc were all part of the ritual. Then placing the needle on that first track...I can hear it in my memory.

Charlie, some people like the cracks and pops. I prefer my music without them but there's a nostalgic quality added with them that appeals to me sometimes.

I love taking them out of my vintage Batman record case. There's nothing like my old 45's.

Funny and poignant. Vinyl is tough to beat.

Treated correctly, you can avoid the cracks and pops...I have vinyl that is 40 years old that sound as good as the day I took the wrapping off the album and gently laid it on my turntable

CUTE! :)

Deb, stacking a bunch of 45s was the closest thing we had to creating a playlist back then!!

Sean, agreed!

Bond, today I would treat my albums perfectly but FRIENDS would mess them up and I was too nice to say "no" when asked to borrow them. (nice = unassertive, weak)

Nothing but honest truth there! Too bad they know not what they do..... they just piss us all off making it more difficult for us to enjoy the music we all love so much.

You have no idea how robbed I feel.

I would give anything to be able to go into a record store and pick up an album, not having any previous information about it (the internet spoils everything). And then come home and put it on and sit on the floor going over every inch of the vinyl cover, memorizing lyrics.

Ahhh. A girl can dream!
