Just heard this news, and it made me feel sad. But really - how sad can it be, we all have to die sooner or later and few people make such a great contribution to the world as Les Paul gave to MUSIC. He was 94!!!
Where would rock and roll be today without his innovative mind and the amazing technology and guitars he created!!!!
Here's a quote that seems to sum up a lot of how he thought:
I'm not sure what my thoughts on the afterlife are...BUT, if there is a heaven I can only imagine the party going on right now as all of the great rock guitarists that are "gone but not forgotten" surround Les and rock out!He admired the places guitarists and engineers took his inventions, but he said there was nothing to replace good, old-fashioned elbow grease and soul.
"I learned a long time ago that one note can go a long way if it's the right one," he said in 2002, "and it will probably whip the guy with 20 notes."
p.s. the project I referred to the other day is my blog referenced above. I actually thought I would have if "finished" until I realized I never will. It does have a new look, please check it out.

Guitar master and legend!! So sad.
I got my monthly AARP magazine and guess who was on the cover. Bruce Springsteen. I immediately thought of you and had to pop in to tell you. Never has a magazine cover looked so good!
Aww that's so sad :( so many rock legends passing away before our eyes :( RIP Les
I was honored to met his brother a recording studio I went school at. I remember being entranced by his stories of Le Paul's inventions. I was totally amazed about he did for the world of rock and roll. This guy is a legend!
RIP Les! You will not be forgotten!
R.I.P. Les and God Bless. I will remember you fondly every time I pick up my Les Paul or any of my guitars for that matter.
I thought that Les would live to see 120. You won't see his like again..another great innovator passes on.
What an amazing man. Music as we know it today would not be the same if not for the work of this incredible person.
I hope that Les has been give an super uber studio in the sky. Because music lovers owe him big time. They had a GIANT poster of Les up in the Guitar Store where my daughter takes her lessons. She was the only kid who knew who he was. Which is probably why she is the store favorite =)
