U2 360 Tour

Well the tour has been underway for almost a month now, slowly making their way across Europe and heading towards .... me! I can't wait for Oct. 25th. This monstrosity of a stage will be interesting to see in person.

Years ago some friends and I went to the Yes Union tour. It had the old members of Yes and the newer members. It was in the round and the stage rotated. Very cool!

I wonder what the cost of moving that thing is...how many trucks will be spewing fumes all over the country...

I thought bands were downsizing to reduce their carbon footprint...

Mike, was Rick Wakeman there? I am old, I saw back in the day. They were good.

Bond, you know that's an excellent point and it surprised me a bit that such a humanitarian band would not consider it. I think I'll so some research in hopes to find out that its totally a green operation...but I doubt it :(

Yep, Jon Anderson, Rick Wakemen, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Bill Bruford. It was awesome!

Bond - The enviormental community has actually come out to attack U2 for this tour and the immense carbon footprint it has left. Sort of ironic considering Bono's support of being environmentally friendly. I'm a huge U2 fan and having nothing against Bono so I'll give him a pass. I definitely think the insane stage set up could have been reduced greatly and instead they should have spent their time hitting more cities instead of doing enormous stadiums that are so far spread apart from each other that tickets sell out in an instant and people have to drive several hours to attend a concert.

Mike, cool!!! I was going to ask a trivia question related to Yes, but its probably too easy....

Jeff, Amen. I agree on all counts. You know I love B and the boys more than just about any band ever, but it does seem over the top. I much rather be in a different (smaller and inside) venue than have that elaborate stage and have to deal with 80,000 other fans. Ick. I hate the Rose Bowl!

Jeff:

Thanks for the info. I have been so busy I had not researched, but it was the first thing that hit me when I saw the pictures of that monstrosity

I also like your thought on downsizing stages and doing more shows for more fans

Jeff - what are you plans for the future? Are you considering a music related career? How about concert promotions? How about if you revamp the way its all done and throw the entire industry upside down and find a fair way for the musicians to make money, the fans to afford to see them, etc.....
