Do you pray? Pray for all the people in our world that are struggling with drug addiction. Its an epidemic we don't talk about much. Its ripping the futures out of the hands of our children who fall into the snare. Families are tormented, numbed, helpless. Its ugly. Its scary. Its happening in a home near you....
Barbara, I remember so vividly back in the day this song being an anthem to my actions of abuse. I was one of the fortunate ones to get to this point in my life. Since my life changed so many years ago this song now serves as a warning to the dangers of abuse. I hope and pray that those who are using will find there way out alive. Dan
Had to comment on the drug issue although i haven't used anything ever (not even smoked tobacco).
Being a failed drunk too (never get past the 1-2 shots of whiskey before getting bored... lmao) i'm probably out of my league.
Anyhow... This is a great song and probably works even better if one is (or has) struggled with the addiction.
BTW have you heard the version Flea (of Red Hot Chili Peppers) used to perform live? The simple solo performance backed up by the bass only...lol
It might not have the same grace that this performance has but i still think (even thought i feel it's a bit of a comical performance when Flea does it) he has his mind into it. Having struggled a lot and also his bands mates having serious probs too.
Ok this got too heavy ;) So i'm gonna change the tune.
I'm not a big Neil Young fan but I can respect where he is comming from here because I've had a lot of friends with drug abuse probles and I have seen first had what it does to people and I used to get mad as hell at them until I realized they the wouldn't listen to me or anyone else they had to find out on their own.
I lost touch with most of them long ago because I couldn't watch the train wreck anymore. I do pray for them and hope they turned out OK but I couldn't stand around at watch them do that to themselves any longer.
