Who hasn't seen the episode of The Simpson's where Homer goes to Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp? Its my all time favorite! Mick Jagger, Joe Strummer, Lenny Kravits, Tom Petty, Keith Richards and probably some others I can't remember.
Well, my good friends at Live Nation are sponsoring another year of Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp and you can go (you know you want to). Here is a little blurb on it, or click the image above to be directed to their website.
Past Camp’s have had campers working alongside The Who’s legendary lead singer Roger Daltrey, Guns N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash, The Rolling Stones’ Bill Wyman and Joe Walsh from the Eagles. Campers have performed and recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, performed at the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool, shared the stage with KISS’ Paul Stanley and Motley Crue’s Vince Neil and listened to tales about life on the road with Bret Michaels** of Poison.
Counselors for the 2008 summer schedule include
Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses),
Elliot Easton (The Cars),
Earl Slick (David Bowie/John Lennon),
Dave Ellefson (former Megadeth bassist),
Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple),
Chris Slade (AC/DC, The Firm with Jimmy Page),
Mark Slaughter (Slaughter),
Mark Hudson (Aerosmith, Grammy Award winning writer/producer),
Kip Winger (Winger)
and many more to be announced. In addition Special Guests
will be stopping by throughout the tour. You never know who will
drop in on Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp!

When I saw Mark Hudson's name, I was like, "Wow, Mark Hudson of the Hudson Brothers". I remember watching their summer and Saturday morning shows when I was a kid. I still recall the catchphrase from their Saturday morning series, "No thanks, we trying to cut down... hmmm."
I love that episode of the Simpsons! I just wasn't aware that Rock And Roll Fantasy camps were real.
I'm still mixed about the idea of it: they let guys like "Skunk" Baxter do it -- which is awesome; but then they let guys like Mark Farner do it? Mark who? We're An American Band? Oh, okay.
I think I'd be on fire that be at rock n roll fantasy camp. What could be more anti-rock n roll than a bunch of old people playing make-believe rock star.
Well truth be known...I posted this at the request of a very cool guy that works with Live Nation and he MAY give me tickets to a concert...that would be cool since this summer money is something I have very, very little of.
Malcolm,
Mark Hudson...he's done a lot of cool stuff.
Eric, I didn't know it either, I thought they made it up for the show!
Hatter, Mark Farner - I saw him performing at Knott's Berry Farm once, that was kinda sad.
Bob, I know, I know! A bunch of GRUMPY old people playing make believe rock star, that would be worse. I'd do it if a)I was super rich and had money to burn b) wasn't an introvert
The Simpsons have so many great episodes oriented around great musicians. My favorite one I think is called Homerpalooza. The Smashing Pumpkins, Cypress Hill, and Peter Frampton were featured.
Who are the Simpsons? I can't imagine ever wanting to do something like this. Maybe hangin with an actual band and going to gigs, but not this.
I loved the Hudson Brothers.
Wow, what a cool line up - it brings back the memories. I used to play guitar back in high school so it would be cool to spend a few days getting back into it.

Nice to see Dave Ellefson on the list. I knew him when he was a 15 year old playing in a local band with his friends. He was a really good bassist then.
