The Ocean
I was talking to someone earlier today about how great Zeppelin is and how neither of us got to see them in concert (I almost did). He mentioned the movie, "Song Remains the Same" so I had to watch some of it tonight. This is high quality footage if you have DIVX.

There are many bands I would love to see live, including these five biggies:
The Doors circa 1968
Led Zeppelin circa 1971
Genesis circa 1973
Rush circa 1976
Van Halen circa 1978

That's a good list, David. The first two would definitely be on my list and the others wouldn't be bad either.
I'd add:
Black Flag (Morris or Rollins era)
The Clash (particularly for London Calling)
Bad Brains (I Against I or before)
Minor Threat
DA,
I saw Van Halen in '78, and 80 and 82 and 85 (actually I'm not sure of the years but I saw them when they first started and twice after that...one time FRONT ROW!)
BV,
I've never heard of the last two you mentioned but I would have LOVED to see The Clash!
The Bad Brains were a punk band from DC (and later NYC) that fused hardcore and reggae in a way that no one had before. They are probably the purest form of energ in rock n roll history. Their I Against I album is #2 on my all-time list.
Minor Threat was also a punk band from DC. They may be best known for pioneering straightedge (no drinking, smoking, drugs, sleeping around, etc). They were also a lot of raw energy and they've meant a lot to me over the years. Their singer, Ian Mackaye founded Dischord Records and is now in Fugazi and the Evens. In the late 80s, he worked with Al Jourgensen of Ministry and released two EPs under the name Pailhead.
Of the artists I never saw(and never will), Queensryche, Rush, and Stevie Ray are the ones I regret not seeing. I know; I had/have a chance to see the first two this year, but life has thrown me a few curves in the last 6-7 months, so it's not possible.
And Bob, I would loved to have seen Black Flag with Henry Rollins. I've always been a huge fan of his.
Bob, thanks! I'm getting a great education on music from you!
Bruce, I wish I would have seen The Doors and Led Zep. Other than that, I think I have seen all my favorites.
(you know I met SRV once don't you? I think I've probably mentioned it ten times so far, it's not because I am bragging, just because it was so damn special!!!)
You got my Van Halen wish ... sigh. Happy for you, sad for me.

I saw Plant open for the Who about 5 years ago and out of the 10 or so songs he sang, 8 were Zep tunes. I know he's getting up there in age, but he sounded pretty damn good. That's as close as I can come to seeing Zep live.
