I have a new friend who is really likes the Grateful Dead. Please don't send me hate mail for saying this, but I was never really that into them. I do appreciate the fact that out of any band in history they have the most loyal fan base ever!

I was content to wait fo rthem to come to town, we saw rham at Pauly pavillion, UCLA. They were the BEST live show band I have ever seen, huge sound, crystal clear, amazing vocals, and no attitude, like "we are rock stars, bow down before us!" We went very high, timing the effects of our dosage to occur after getting past security, and before the first song. ********************************* Today i was given a significant gift, I am thankful for it, it makes me smile to think of it and the generous giver.
If you want to like a band for their musical abilities then this is your band. Simply some of the best guitar playing I have ever seen or listened to period.
They were the weirdest band you could ever listen to: somedays, even now, I can't take them; on others, they're the best band I ever heard. Conclusion: it all depends on your state of mind :)
Seriously, the quality of some of their music is stellar. I saw them only a few times, when they visited the UK a long, long time back and they were exceptional that day. I seriously considered moving to California to be nearer to them...
I lost track of them in the 1980s, saw them once more in the 1990s and felt incredibly sad the day Jerry died. A real tragedy.
But the music lingers on and the USA should be really, really proud of the stuff they turned out. Quite an amazing band.
