Happy Birthday, Tony Ionni

I can remember listening to "Paranoid" for the first time (on an 8 Track tape!!) and thinking "who is this guy playing guitar???".   Truly one of the great rock guitarists.

I wish him a happy birthday

Also, good news for his fans:

"Paranoid" is, without a doubt, one of my all-time favorites.

A true original. Invented a whole new genre of music, too.

Yes, Happy Birthday Tony! Who'd've thought that someone who had the ends of his fingers chopped off in an industrial accident would've gone on to be a top axeman?

Just off to play 'Paraniod'...again!

Is Vinny Appice any relation to Carmine Appice, the drummer from Vanilla Fudge who later recorded with fellow VF member Tim Bogert, and Jeff Beck on Beck, Bogert, and Appice?

A note on Carmin Appice, who I now see is Vinny's brother:

Carmin Appice was the first rock drummer to conduct "Drum clinics" held at college campuses, theaters and drum stores.

"He set the foundation for heavy drumming ... before Bonham, before Ian Paice... before anyone else" Rick Van Horn. Modern Drummer Magazine

Appice's drum instruction book The Realistic Rock Drum Method[4] was first published in the 1972. The book covers the classic information of basic rock rhythms and polyrhythms, linear rudiments and groupings, shuffle rhythms, hi-hat and double bass drum exercises. The Realistic Rock Drum Method is a best selling drum book.

Black Sabbath-wheather Ozzy,Dio,or someone else-a great band. The godfathers of metal. My favorite albums from them are Pariniod, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and Heaven and Hell. The Seventh Star is very underated.

Enough rambling...Happy birthday,Tony!
