Mitch Mitchell has Died!!!!

I am very upset, I just heard it on the radio while on my lunch break and the only details I have is that he was found in a hotel room in Portland, Oregon and died of natural causes. Mitch, for those of you unfamiliar with him, was the drummer for Jimi Hendrix and is usually listed near the top of most "best drummers of all time" lists.

He was 61 years old.

He is on tour right now for the "Experiencing Hendrix" tour, I had tickets for that on November 2 but due to family issues was unable to go.

SAD news :(

I will update this as more news becomes available and add Mitch to the bottom of my list no "Gone But Not Forgotten".

Wow, very sad news. Can't believe the entire experience is gone. RIP.

Now Jimi, Noel, and Mitch are jamming in Rock 'N' Roll Heaven.

Mitch was probably my favorite drummer. He wasn't quite as wild as Keith, but he could play just as well. Actually, he could play better because he had a background in jazz drumming. Jimi was obviously a great guitar player, but Mitch made the Experience a great band. He will be greatly missed. I may have to watch some of the stuff on my Jimi DVDs this weekend.

This is very sad. Like a lot of this material, it has the “what might have been ?” thing hanging over it.

So many of the Mitchell obits are simply all about Jimi… which is kinda sad.
Mitch really deserves a good listen (and a slice of the royalties…”If 6 was 9″.. I mean, come on!)

I am fortunate because I was able to see the Jimi Hendrix experience perform over ten times in person. They were each incredible musicians. I couldn't get over how Mitch Mitchell moved so fast when he played the drums. Watching him was almost as fascinating as watching Jimi. I have written a short story about my first time seeing the Jimi Hendrix experience. this will take you back to a completely different time and place.

I love you Mitch!
