New Music from The Beatles????

Paul McCartney has confirmed that there actually is an unheard 14 minute track of their music and he is hoping to release it so we can hear it!  Details here.

(Thanks to my friend, Jim, who pointed this out to me....and Jim, thanks for last night it was fun)

I, for one, am very excited about this. I was too young to remember Free As A Bird and Real Love, so any unheard Beatle song being released is a positive!

I am sure there is more music that has not been released...

I'll be interested in hearing this but perhaps only once or twice. If it was too far out for Lennon - the man who masterminded Revolution 9 - who knows what the hell it will sound like?

Another "kinda related" comment from yours truly...
if you can, check out the movie Across The Universe; it's a drama/musical set in the 60s. The really neat thing about it is that ALL of the songs they sing are Beatles songs. I saw it on Starz the other night, and while it's not exactly Gone With the Wind, it's a nice little film.

I would love to hear this song, but in all honesty I don't have very high expectations for it. I think practically every song in the Beatles catalog is incredible, there are very few songs which I would actually say are alright, but this just sounds like it's going to be too "avant-garde" for their own good. I love unique avant-garde music, especially prog, but there is a difference between making avant garde music with depth and avant garde music that is too pretentious and artistic for its own good, and based on my quick read through this article, it sounds like the latter...

This one wasn't good enough, Paul says, to make the Anthology a few years back. The previously unreleased songs (Free As a Bird, Real Love) that DID make it were substandard enough that I fear this is quite horrid.

This one has been talked about for years. Paul made it as kind of a response to Revolution 9. George Martin thought it was terrible, so they didn't release it. It wouldn't have gone on an album anyway. 14 minutes? Maybe an EP. But yeah. It's called Light Carnival or something. There's a Wikipedia article about it. I found out when I was reading that one beatles book.
