(this post only makes sense if you read the one below it and the comments)
In the below post I mentioned paying $300 to see U2. This is not their fault. I think face value of my ticket was $85.
This is because ticket scalpers prey on people like me that TRY to get tickets for face value but only have the "scraps" (i.e. crappy seats in the nosebleed section) left to us after they have swarmed in and bought all the good seats.
I hate it, but I also spend very little money on myself, so when I do pay exorbitantly high prices on something, its always something that's worth it to me. U2 and Bruce are the only ones worth it.
NOW - with that said, I totally agree that the boys should throw a free concert or charge ONLY enough to cover costs. They have more money than they need. I'll run it by Bono, tell him Bond and Amulet had a great idea .....

Too bad we don't get fair prices these days. It's all the "hipe" we pay for today. I thought itwas suppose to be about the music. Who needs all the theatrics? The Beatles didn't and you could see them for $5 or $10 dollars. I remember seeing Melanie in 1971 for $8.00.
That was a long time ago but going to a show then was something EVERYONE could afford.

I think I paid the same price and I was only two people back from actually being able to touch Bono. So $85, by today's standards is pretty amazing to be that close. It would have cost me that much to have the last row at a Tull concert...
I'm sorry, but I'm not spending $300 a pop to see anyone, not even the Cardinals.
The ticket brokers (scalpers) are the real problem. They somehow get preferential treatment and are able to land a ton of very good tickets. I had to pay $280/ticket for this summers Petty concert. It was that or not go as the tickets were sold out in about 20 minutes.
Some groups like Petty are doing pre-sales for members of their fan club. Unfortunately I was not a member.
I love Tom Petty, he's my cousin twice removed but, no way ANYONE should have to pay so much to see him! It's just a shame.

PS: check out this new book. It looks like agood read but WHERE IS MELANIE !!! http://www.girlslikeusthebook.com/
I've got a brand new pair of roller skates, you got a brand new key....
Looks like a good read. Boy that Carly was sure a looker ;-)
Have to tell you...even $85 is a lot for a concert ticket...sorry...especially when most of these tours have corporate sponsorship!
You get a corporation to underwrite your tour and then you still charge upwards of $100/ticket in venues that hold 20,000 people....
NO ONE should make $2-Million for one show..ONE SHOW...when you are doing a tour that has 20-30 shows on the schedule
Yes, I understand the cost of putting on a tour...crew, rentals, transportation, etc etc...but $2-Million WHEN the corporate geeks have already given you $10-Million to sponsor...
THAT IS FREAKIN INSANE!
Word.
