Joss Stone's Voice Should Be Illegal

Well, at least for me when I am alone.
I'm listening to "Soul Sessions".
In my opinion - her voice, lyrics and vocal style are off the charts in sensuality.

Sigh.

P.S. Thank You, Russ! Calling her "Josh" was either a typo or a Freudian slip....

Actually her name is Joss Stone, and, yes, she's amazing. Her new album (Introducing Joss Stone) is especially good.

Her voice is great and she really connected with old school soul on her first albums. Modern R&B (a now creativity-challenged genre) has been sneaking in more and more over the second and third albums. The mechanical nature of the music, particularly on her latest album, robs the passion from her voice and it's a shame.

I never really got into her music but none the less her voice is incredible. Someone else who I've been listening to more and more is Cat Power, she has an amazing voice. I would recomend checking her out.

Russ, thanks again for pointing out my typo - I fixed it :)

Bob, I would have to agree! I like her old stuff and have never even ventured into her new because with the 2 CDs I have of hers, its plenty.

Jeff - I will check her out, THANKS!

I've been in love with her voice since hearing her on KCRW way back when. I couldn't fathom that that mature and so soulful voice belonged to a (then) 15-year-old British girl.

She had a lot of friendship and help from Betty Wright for that first record and it really shows.

I really like her voice, but I saw an interview with her once and she kind of had this attitude like, "yeah, these are really cool songs people give me to sing" and how she never really was sure she could be a blues singer. To me, if you're gonna sing the blues you have to really feel it. With most of her songs though, I guess she's a pretty damn good faker because she still sounds great.

I'm still kicking myself in the ass for not going to see her when she performed at the office where I work a few years ago. She was there to support her upcoming debut album. I picked up a copy of a Queen tribute CD and she does a damn good version of "Under Pressure".

Chez, yes hard to believe a voice and style like that coming from 15 yr old.

Beck, I didn't see that interview but I know how one interview like that can change my view of a person if I like it or not. For example - Stevie Nicks. I saw an interview of her and thought she was a whiny spoiled brat and can't haven't been able to enjoy her since then (and that was 20 years ago!!!)
