Nirvana's MTV Unplugged comes to DVD

It’s the most critically revered live performance of the grunge era, yet Nirvana’s 1993 Unplugged In New York show for MTV has never been available on DVD – until now.

Next Monday (19 November) sees the release of the full 66-minute concert, plus between-song banter and two tracks not included in the original broadcast, Oh Me and Something In The Way. The DVD also includes unreleased rehearsal and documentary footage.

While Nirvana is almost as overrated as the Stones and AC/DC (okay, maybe not quite, but you get the point), this was perhaps their finest hour. The idea behind MTV Unplugged seemed good, but this is one of the rare occasions where it really offered something special.
