Tonight

Well, five minutes till I am off work - then later this evening I am going to go hear the same band I heard last week. They were SO GOOD. I've been listening to Stevie Ray this afternoon to get me in the mood.

What did you do tonight?

I saw the International Space Station fly over. First time I've seen that ...

And thanks for the inspiration for my post on "Smoke on the Water!"

I took my kids to the library for storytime. The theme was cows. It might sound boring, but actually, it beats just about anything in the world!

David, that sounds cool! And hey, glad to be of service :)

Bob, that sounds fabulous. Hearing about a dad spending spending time with his kids makes me day.

As for me - my night did not turn out so great. Three guys try to hit on me, 2 were married. WTF is wrong with people? I think I'll stick to sitting at home like I usually do and listening to my iPod. It was hard to enjoy the music last night :(

Played Volleyball with some friends for a few hours, then came home to listen to my new stereo. I'm sorry your night wasn't so successful.

That's too bad about your show. I think women are often given a hard time at concerts. Why would someone assume that anyone is at a show just to hook up? I always assume people are their for the music. Another thing that disgusts me is when guys try to get women to expose their brests at a show. They should be at a strip club, not a rock show if that's what they want. And of course there's the guys who think that it's okay to grab a girl when she's crowd surfing. Last time I checked, that's sexual assault and it is most definitely NOT okay. When I see that stuff, I wish I knew karate so I could beat the crap out of them. I usually go to small shows and that stuff doesn't happen there, but I've seen it at the larger events and it makes me furious. I kid you not, I'm going to enroll my daughter in karate (she's 3 1/2) so she doesn't have to put up with that crap. Some guy tries that crap with her when she's older and he'll be sorry.

Sorry for the rant.

Jeff, Volleyball is a great sport, so fun. Do you play in sand or on a hard surface????

Bob, you are welcome to rant here any time at all! In fact, I would love your thoughts on the latest post on my other blog. It's about "P-ris Hi_ton" but my point is that parents are responsible for raising their children and in today's society a lot of parents seem to accept their daughters looking up to the Paris, Lindsay and Britneys of the world.

ALSO - I was at a small venue, not a club. I know what you mean about men being that way towards women at concerts, but lets not blame just the guys - there are plenty of females who enjoy flashing their breasts, getting grabbed and being seen as a sex object. No one can FORCE you expose your breasts at a concert, its a choice.

HOW WAS IT?

David, it was a "C" compared to an
"A+" the week before. Oh well. Mostly because there were people bugging me all night and I just wanted to be left alone to hear the music. I guess if a woman goes into a bar alone she has to accept that fact that men think she's there to get picked up. But I wasn't there for that. I don't think I'll go back alone.

Oh, and David - the music was not as good because they had a lot of different people join them on stage. One highlight was a female vocalist who was excellent!

Layla - I disagree. A woman should NOT have to accept that. She should be able to go to a show alone and be able to just enjoy the music. I understand what you said about no one forcing women to take their shirts off and that's true even if the encouragement annoys me. But there's no reason that a woman shouldn't be respected wherever she goes.

Bob, Oh, I agree with that too, we all deserve respect. Sometimes people with little self respect invite less respect from others. I'm guilty of that myself from my younger years.

I think we are on the same page, just looking from slightly different angles.

Its really not right to generalize, so I hope it doesn't seem like I was doing that.
