Ok, I LOVE Maroon 5. What can I say? I got totally hooked when "Songs About Jane" came out and thier new CD is almost as good (imo). They are playing locally at The Troubadour! It's a very small, old club in LA
What are some bands you like that are "new" and don't fit into the "Classic Rock" genre?

Here are some new bands of the new century that I like a lot:
Los Lonely Boys
The Shins
Grace Potter and The Nocturnals
The Cat Empire
Here are some other bands of the post-classic rock era that I like a lot:
Los Lobos
Black 47
The Saw Doctors
Young Dubliners
The Dixie Chicks
Of the "recent" bands, I really like
Disturbed
Lacuna Coil
Shinedown
Crossfade
among others...
One "new" bands that isn't classic rock, probably never will be, but I find listenable is Finger Eleven. There are others, but that's what comes to mind.
Oh yes, and Gorillaz make some interesting blended music.

Hey Charlie - good to see you. I've heard of most but not all of those.
Hey Bruce, my son got me into Disturbed, they're ok.
David, I feel so bland compared to all of you with such a broad spectrum of music...
Where to begin?
The Mars Volta
Tool (Not So new but not Classic Rock)
Wolfmother
Weezer (Like Tool, not new but not Classic Rock)
The White Stripes
A few newer bands off the top of my head... ones that are always in the stereo.
Death Cab for Cutie
Postal Service
TV on the Radio
Muse
Arctic Monkeys
