Being from down here in So Cal, Jim Ladd is a well know radio host for KLOS, I am just wondering if any of you have heard of him? I don't know if his nightly show is syndicated or not, but this week he's been doing a series on "The Summer of Love" and its been great. I can almost smell the aroma of incense and marijuana, feel the beads draped around my neck, see the flowers in my hair as I frolicking through a grass field with Jim Morrison...
If you get a chance to listen to it, I recommend it. Great history lesson of the 60's.
I was too young to live it, but I just KNOW I would have been a hippy :)
Anyone recognize these three?

Ladd wrote a really fascinating book about the birth and death of what were called "progressive" FM radio stations in the 60s and 70s. They were the ones playing the deep album tracks of bands that AM radio either shunned or played only "hit" singles from (Pink Floyd, Jeff Airplane, Doors, Grateful Dead, etc.)
The book was written in 1991 and is probably out of print, but if you ever run across it, I highly recommend it. It's called Radio Waves: Life and Revolution on the FM Dial.
He has been syndicated in the past, but I think he's only on KLOS now. If he has a podcast or webcast, I haven't been able to find it.

The book sounds interesting, because radio isn't what it used to be. In Baltimore, we have two decent rock radio stations, but both are small and hard to get when you're outside of the city and immediate suburbs. Everything with a big transmitter isn't even remotely worth listening to.
I looked for it on half.com and found a hardcover copy for 75 cents. There were several at that price if anyone else wants to pick one up.
ok, since one guessed I'll just say that the three in the pic are Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton and oh shoot - I forgot who the other guy is. Oh well.
The other one looks like he could be a young David Crosby.
Definitely David Crosby, Joni Mitchell and the third is maybe Eric...tough to tell
Not only did I hear it but I read a interview on Jim Ladd that blew my mind recently in Carrie Leigh's Nude Magazine. Jim Ladd is the real deal and the interview was recently posted on Carrie Leighs Website.
