The only reason I got number 7 was because I used to sing that out my bedroom window to my neighbor over and over. I had it on a 45. I'd also sing Harry Nillson's "Without You" out the same window to a different neighbor.

I wasn't kidding at all. Bonham played the opening drum pattern from Little Richard's "Keep a Knocking" note for note and they dove into a loose jam based on that song that became "Rock and Roll". They kept that bit to kick off the tune on the finished recording.

I really don't know that much. It's more of an obsession with where things came from :)
My Dad had a ton of 78s, some of which included Little Richard, The Everly Brothers, Elvis and a ton of other music that he bought when he was in his twenties. I listen to fifties stuff all the time (Chuck Berry is one of my favorite artists from that era).
Lennon said time and again that no one has ever improved upon that blueprint.
