Genesis

A great album that just missed my top 25 classic rock albums. Sit back and enjoy this beautiful song. Peter Gabriel is an awesome vocalist!

It seems Genesis is out of fashion at the moment - largely due to their 80s and 90s output - but it should be remembered that between 'Foxtrot' and 'Trick of the Tail' they were an awesome band. It saddens me to hear that even Phil Collins has tried to disassociate himself with this period in order to try and appear less 'dinosaur-like' and appease the younger generation. But he is wrong. He should be proud of his contribution to some of the most complex yet accessible music ever produced.

From the Hackett era of Genesis, I actually like The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway the least. I find it to be a bit TOO self-indulgent on Peter Gabriel's part. I really thought Genesis hit their peak on Selling England By the Pound and had a bit of a resurgence following Gabriel's departure on A Trick of the Tail and Wind & Wuthering.
