Bruce Bruce Bruce
Its that time again - he just started the next leg of his tour. There are a few things I have to point out for those of us who can't get enough of him :)
First, a great article (thanks, Pete)
USA Today - including what's on his iPod
Second, here you can check out some of the photo's in the book "For You" that I mentioned earlier (the one that includes one of my Bruce memories - I still haven't got around to sharing what I said in there cause I don't feel like typing it all out but I will soon)
Rolling Stone article with Photos from FOR YOU
Third, speaking of the book, here is the website for the book (also the above photo credit goes to L. Kirsch, its from the book also)

Free Springsteen Tickets Update! (see previous post for details)
Here's my new plan and a story that Pete made me think of.
Plan A: Give them away to someone in the Blogosphere (which is not likely since none of my blog readers live in this area which just proves once again I am in the wrong place),
Plan B: When I get to the concert I will find someone looking to buy tickets and sell them dirt cheap. The catch is - they have to prove to me they are a true fan by answering some questions (basic stuff than any Springsteen person should just KNOW).
Story: This exact thing happened to my friends Isaac and Seth when I took them to see Bruce on The Rising Tour. Isaac didn't have a ticket OR any money. But he was willing to sit in the parking lot if he had to. Seth had some money and was going to try and find a single seat for cheap. My sis and I had tickets so we told the guys we'd meet them back at our car after the show.
About 45 minutes later I get a call from Isaac. He was calling from better seats than where I was sitting - and - he got them for FREE!
Some guy in the parking lot made Isaac pass a basic test (that's where I got the idea) to prove he was not a scalper, then he gave them to him free. I was not that suprised because Isaac is one of those people that EVERYONE likes, stuff like this happens to him all the time! Anyhow I was happy for him and want to make someone else happy on APRIL 7th!
(and ladies, Isaac is also one of the best looking guys I have ever seen in my life, but he doesn't even know it - I swear - he's too busy just loving life to be arrogant)

Some Music News:
Image by jimdavidson via FlickrVH1 Classic will give up the network for 24 hours on Oct. 19th to celebrate the release the following day of AC/DC's new album, BlackIce. The channel will show archival footage, concerts, videos and
much more during what they call Total AC/DC.
Boz Scaggs will release, Speak Low, his second volume of standards and ballads on Oct. 28th. His first volume of standards, But Beautiful, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Jazz chart.
Come Together: A Night For John Lennon's Words & Music will be released on DVD via Eagle Rock Entertainment on Nov. 4th. The
90-minute star-studded event was filmed at Radio City Music Hall in
2001 just 3 weeks after Sept. 11th. The event features performances
by Cyndi Lauper, Shelby Lynne, Lou Reed, Natalie Merchant, Dave
Stewart and many others.
Carlos Santana, 61, recently told Rolling Stone magazine that when he
retires from music he would eventually like to start a church in Maui,
Hawaii. "I'm not sick of what I do, but I find that God gave me the
gift of communication even without my guitar and with the ability to
get people unstuck with certain sections of the Bible having to do
with guilt, shame, judgment and fear."

Free Springtsteen Tickets
Well, Bruce will be back in my area in early April and guess what - I have two extra tickets!
What should I do with them?
1) Sell them on Ebay or Craiglist?
2) Not sell them and have twice as much room for my sis and I to dance around (since the seats are next to ours)
3) Give them away to someone deserving - someone that LOVES Bruce and really wants to see him.
4) Invite one of my friends who think he's "okay" and let them experience firsthand what its like to see him live.
Here's the thing, money is not the issue. I want someone sitting next to me that is having fun.
SO - If any of my regular blog readers would like the tickets and are willing to fly out here - let me know, you can have them.

Juno Soundtrack Review
I received a copy to review but have been waiting to see the movie first because I know I will appreciate the music more if I do that.
Lucky for me, my blog buddy, Jeff, has reviewed it for you on Imagine Echoes and gave it a B+

Blast from the Past!
A friend sent me this....oh man, this was my era! LOL!
Edgar is a fun musician to watch - check out how many instruments he's plays on this song!
Bonus points if you recognize who's playing lead guitar. (that reminds me, I have three CDs to give away, but not very exciting ones...stay tuned)
Triva about Edgar, did you know that both he and his brother, musician Johnny Winter, are both albinos? That blond hair is real.

Update on Music Loss Tragedy
Thanks to all of you who left condolenses for my loss of music. I am back up to 3,620 songs. I recovered some (thanks to Bob Vinyl) and a sweet woman at work copied a ton of her music for me. It was very sweet and she has suprisingly good taste :)
I kind of felt sad tonight when I really started to see what I DON'T have. John Lennon is missing! No wonder I feel unsettled.
Luckily most of my favorites were saved but I am missing some much loved music. Here is a list of what I've come up with so far.
PLEASE NOTE! Some of these would fall into my "how can you admit to listening to that" category and some of these I only want ONE song of. So, my next step is to go through my sister's CD's. After that I will go over to a friend's house and search through her husband's collection of 7,000 songs. His taste is not the same as mine - but he's gotta have some of what I need, right??
A few of you have offered to send me MP3s and I may take you up on that as I narrow down my list.
Thanks again for understanding. I am going to back up everything twice from now on!!

THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!
BOB VINYL SAVED THE DAY!
Bob told me about some softward that will undetle all my lost files so I am in the process of doing that now.
I still have a lot of work ahead of me to get them back in order and on my ipod but I am SO THANKFUL TO BOB!
(and Erin, you probably could have helped me too....I don't know why I panic but I thought I had tried everything)
Pardon my French in the last post....
Music Crisis
I am grieving the loss of several thousand songs.
I thought they were safe on my external hard drive.
I thought I knew what I was doing.
But, I f*cked up.
They are gone.
Thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours spent downloading, burning, ripping...80% of it is gone.
I am in shock. I spent over an hour searching my computer for them....I am fairly tech saavy so I know where to look and what to do...but they are fucking gone.
I emptied my recycle bin - does anyone know how to retrieve something after its been deleted from there? That's my only hope.
I am crying.
Now what have I done!
I have a love/hate relationship with iTunes/iPod.
I LOVE my iPod - I HATE using iTunes.
So, after all these years and and countless hours re-adding music that got "lost" and other such annoying things, I decided to dump iTunes and try out Media Monkey.
I chose Media Monkey because the smartest computer person I have ever met says its good and he uses it. What we didn't discuss was the synchronization process since he doesn't have an iPod.
I spent my lunch hour reading forums in Media Monkey to learn what I am in for when I go to synch later.
Crap.
I think I am doomed.
Its not going to be a smooth transition, but I already put ALL my music in MM and spent a long time making playlists and finding missing album art, etc.
Wish me luck...I just don't want to go back to iTunes for SO many reasons.
Does anyone out there have any other music managers that they like that are easy to use?

Grammy Results for Bruce
Here is my latest complaint about the Grammy Awards, and I will drop this subject (for another year)
If you didn't read the post I linked to the other day about the Grammy's and why they have nothing to do with true talent - you really should read it. It's FUNNY, its called "The 7 Most Unforgivable Grammy Award Snubs of All Time". I'd like to add this years snub to Bruce to the list.
Bruce one 3 out of 4 of the nominations he was up for.
Congrats, Bruce.
Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance - Radio Nowhere
Best Rock Instrumental Performance - Once Upon a Time in the West
Best Rock Song (songwriter's award) - Radio Nowhere

I am bitter - not because of what he won but for what he was not even nominated for, he deserved to be considered in these categories and the dissed him. What a joke.Bruce was not nominated in

Why the Grammy's Suck
Ok, not a very eloquent title for a blog post, but hopefully it will attract your attention to THIS POST that is so funny, yet so true!
I found it via Isorski's Musings. If you have any doubt that the Grammy Awards are NOT about who's "the best", this guy's article will convince you.

U23D = Perfect
Just got home from being on stage with Bono, Edge, Larry and Adam. It was INSANE. I know not everyone shares my enthusiasm for U2, so you can stop reading here if that's the case.
Bono.
What can I say about him other than there is no one like him. He has passion for what he believes and delivers the message with brilliance, heart, soul and rock and roll. Since I share his views on life and I love rock music, what could be better?
Having him stand a foot away from me and reach out into the audience was as close as I will probably ever get to him, and that's fine with me. I can admire him from afar, and I do. He reminds me that there is hope for this f'd up world we live in.
It was amazing to see them so close, to watch The Edge play and see the ridges of his fingernails - that's how clear and detailed this 3D technology was.
And when Larry looked up straight into my eyes - wow. He's so....beautifully male. Damn.
It was a great experience. I give it an A. The only thing better is seeing them live!

Kurt Cobain - About A Son
I received this DVD to review and will be viewing it this weekend. I know it will be an emotional experience for me.
An intimate and moving meditation on the late musician and artist Kurt Cobain, based on more than 25 hours of previously unheard audiotaped interviews conducted with Cobain by noted music journalist Michael Azerrad for his book "Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana." In the film, Kurt Cobain recounts his own life - from his childhood and adolescence to his days of musical discovery and later dealings with explosive fame - and offers often piercing insights into his life, music, and times. The conversations heard in the film have never before been made public and they reveal a highly personal portrait of an artist much discussed but not particularly well understood. Live Review of Tom Petty at Halftime
I like Tom. In fact back in the day when I was in a band we covered every single song on his first album.
I've seen him in concert a few times over the years and he seems to have a good time performing live and sounds good. I think he's probably a great guy in his "real life" and I love the fact that The Heartbreakers have stuck together.
But....
This performance that I am watching right now is....dull. So far. He just started "Free Falling" since its a slower song, maybe it will come off better than American Girl and the other one he played (I can't even remember what it was...and it was only a few seconds ago).
My personal opinion, and this is nothing against TP, he was a poor choice for the halftime. They needed someone a little more exciting. Sorry, Tom.
I still think this was his best album of all time, and I still know every word to all these songs:
