Feeling a bit melancholy today thinking about all the problems in the world...wishing that things were different: No war, no poverty, no child abuse, no hate... Even though it seems hopeless and feels helpless we can all do our part to bring peace into our own lives just by being kind to one another.
Music, to me, is one of those universal things that can unite people. I'm not saying that everyone will feel the same about a specific song or style - I am saying that when I meet someone who loves a certain band as much as I do - there's an instant bond no matter what other differences we share.
BUT...just for fun, what if there was ONE UNIVERSAL SONG that touched every single person who heard it....what do you think it would be? What would you want it to be?

Well, of course I know the answer to that. It's "We are the World".
Isn't it?
(Kidding, of course)
Boy I don't know, that's a tough one. Maybe Amazing Grace...?
When I think about this question, all that comes to mind is John Lennon and his songs. "The Word"? "All You Need Is Love"? "Give Peace A Chance"? Each one of those songs should speak to everyone.
Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin! ;P
Erin, I have to admit - I do like that song :)
Russ, wow, good to hear from you! I immediately thought of John too - Imagine maybe?
Angie, perfect :) hehe
I think "Hey Jude" could be one. I too thought of "Amazing Grace," especially because it can be interpreted to fit a lot of people. In a sense though, I think all good music has the potential to be universal.
Its definitely 'Imagine' thats the first song that comes to my mind.
My choice would be "Wake Up Everybody" by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes.
"Sheena is a Punk Rocker?"
I'll agree that "Imagine" is probably up there. For the spiritual folks, I'd also give votes to George's "My Sweet Lord" and Squeeze's "Some Fantastic Place."
"Hey Jude" came to my mind too....
