Hair Bands

I have a 24 year old niece, Danielle. Tonight she asked me if I wanted to go see a Poison concert with her because someone gave her free tickets. She'd never heard of them but knew they were an old 80's band. I gave her a brief history of that era of music and showed her this little "photo album" I put together over a year ago. You have to admit, there was not a whole lot of originality going on in this era!

IMHO a dark time for music....

I completely agree. This stuff had a little bit of charm in the early 80s, but once it got huge, it was so derivative and commercial that it was really just filler until something real happened. The sad thing is that Poison was one of the better bands. You could do a whole lot worse.

Did you see anything about that Rocklahoma festival? It was a bunch of those bands, many with just one or two original members, trying to relive their glory years for the old and the old at heart.

Hello, found you through JulieUnplugged.

I'm not a huge fan of hair bands and pretty much missed all the music of the 80's (I had four kids that decade), but I do love X Japan. Especially after they ditched the big hair. :)

Their Last Live concert is one of the great ones, imo.

I didn't care for much of the hair band stuff from the 80s. I was glad when the grunge/alternative revolution came along and wiped the hair bands off the charts.
