IMHO, bass players are under-rated. For every great rock band, there is a bass player. How many lead guitarists can you list? Now....what about bass guitar? There's a few obvious guys but many of them stand in the background, keeping the beat for the band and go virtually unnoticed.

Today my 14 year old joined a garage band. Guess what he's going to play? Yep. I am hoping I can add his name to this list someday:

Ron Blair, Adam Clayton, Rick Danko (RIP) Roger Glover, John Paul Jones, Geddy Lee, Suzi Quatro, Dee Dee Ramone (RIP), Rick Savage, Nikki Sixx, Sting, Roger Waters, Verdine White,
Brian Wilson, Bill Wyman.

And my all time favorite bass player: T.J. Hill. Rock on!

Stuart Hamm is no slouch either. I saw him with Joe Satriani on one of the G3 tours. Steve Vai played also. He was ok. But Kenny Wayne Shepherd was awesome! Satriani was Satriani. Need I say more?

Thanks for adding to this list, I knew I'd leave out some hot rythym!

Some might argue Johnny Thunders (New York Dolls) needs to be included with the best.
