CCR 40th Annivesary Release (and update on my record album project)

I've always been a fan of Creedance Clearwater Revival and thought it was a shame that the brothers had such a hard time getting along...its bad enough when two bandmates, like David Gilmore and Roger Waters, can't agree, but Tom and John Fogerty were brothers!

Their music reminds me of growing up in the 70's and opening the package of the 6 CDs I received in the mail brought those memories flooding back! The art work on the CDs is very cool, its having little mini record albums. I highly recommend this set to any CCR fan. I stumbled across a really good review of this set on a blog I'd never seen before, check it out, its called Bag of Songs.

I'm looking forward to listening to each album all the way through again, I noticed some songs on there that seemed "new" to me. These guys were actually pretty versatile and weren't afraid to experiment. But they will always be rememberd for their biggest hits.

Here are my personal favorites. What are yours?

  • Born on the Bayou
  • Down on the Corner
  • Fortunate Son
  • Green River
  • Have You Ever Seen the Rain
  • Hey Tonight
  • Lodi
  • Lookin' Out My Back Door
  • Proud Mary
  • Someday Never Comes
  • Sweet Hitch-Hiker
  • Travelin' Band
  • Who'll Stop the Rain
(Update on my record album project....its going to take some doing to get to that precious box so hopefully I will have the energy for it tomorrow!)

I saw a VH-1 Legends special about John Fogerty. He talked about how he and Tom were still at odds even as Tom was near death. I don't blame John for being upset at Tom, Doug, and Stu over how they sided with the record company instead of him. However, I think he was wrong not to allow Doug and Stu (Tom was dead by then) to perform with him when CCR was inducted into the RRHOF. John used an all-star band that included Bruce Springsteen. I'm not saying there should have been some big hugfest, but Doug and Stu were a part of CCR and should have been allowed to take part in the performance. Doug and Stu were so insulted they got up and left. Who can blame them?

As for my favorite CCR songs:

Commotion
Sweet Hitch-Hiker
Hey Tonight
Up Around the Bend
Lodi
Down on the Corner
Long As I Can See the Light
Fortunate Son
Have You Ever Seen the Rain
Lookin' Out My Back Door
Proud Mary
Someday Never Comes
Travelin' Band

I'm a big CCR fan myself. The band was simple, yet a powerhouse. They wrote some great lyrics and could really jam.

Some of favs:
Born on the Bayou
Lodi
Bad Moon Rising
Green River
Suzi Q (the long version-gotta have the guitar solo)

I will put in my vote for Long as I Can See The Light, Keep On Chooglin', Lodi, Born On The Bayou and Run Through the Jungle......Was surprised to see Eliot Easton from the Cars taking a paycheck in Creedence Clearwater Revisited for all those years. seano

I`m an old fan of Creedence. You made a list with all my favourite CCR songs! It`s perfect, that John Fogerty elected the all my favourite songs for his live concert "Premonition" (1998). I listen some songs every day in the road to work and back.

Seeing the cover of 'Cosmos Factory' just reminded me of those early 1970s when I'd love to hear CCR on the radio but never had the money to buy anything. I coveted 'CF' badly but never bought it - I just used to touch the cover in my local record store. Sad or what?

I love CCR. I've seen John Fogerty twice in concert, never got to see CCR, but his concerts were so good. He's one of the few artists that I've ever seen that looks like he's having such a great time on stage. Always smiling as he sings.
