I'm in Love!

...with this new radio station:

The Sound LA

Finally, the perfect radio station. Up until now I have been forced to listen to KLOS or JackFM.

I can't knock KLOS, that would be like slapping an old high school buddy in the face - BUT, I've grown up, okay? Yeah, I love CLASSIC ROCK, but my tastes are broader and I can't handle your immature disc jockeys and endless commercial breaks. (Of course I love Jim Ladd and I like Cynthia Fox and I admire Rita Wilde...but Mark and Brian and the rest of them get on my nerves).

Jack - you are much better as far as variety and less commercials....but it seems that you have a limited number of songs you play over and over and I don't like your attempts at sarcasm or sexual innuendo...too obvious to be funny.

Here is how The Sound describes themselves:

The Sound is about simply one thing, it's about the best "rock" music made to date. Notice the quotes around the word rock, because our definition of rock is a lot broader than most and it knows virtually no time frame. On The Sound you'll hear everything from the geniuses that gave birth to the seminal rock of the '60s and '70s to the ever evolving offspring of that music, including great stuff that came out last year...or even last week.

Its obvious that you haven't listened to the Sound very long . When you do I think you will feel that same way as you do about JACKFM . The play list is repeated many times and gets old. With so many geniuses to play and many generations of Rock music why are they repeating so much. LA radio is still not here yet but maybe just a tad better.

Anon, I hope you're wrong I guess time will tell. I don't get to listen all day. I just hope they get decent DJs that are intelligent and appreciate music rather than hiring someone cause they have a good radio voice.

Satellite seems to be the way to go if you want variety and no commercials.

Dan, I had satelite when I was in my car a lot but I could never get it to tune in well at home....So i usually listen to Last FM when online, my iPod when at work or home and the radio in the car.

We have a great station in Chicago called The Drive. Thet play great songs but they do tend to repeat. They also have an internet channel called Deep Tracks. That is really cool.

Try it out. WDRV.com

Hi. Music changed my word. i read your favorites and i love most of them. you didn’t say anything about Deep Purple or Ritchie Blackmore, Pink Floyd, Z.Z. Top ………. I love them too. You must listen to my music and say your opinion about them.

I have yet to find a great radio station, one that doesn't have a rotation list and avoid deep cuts. Sigh.

KMET is (was) Heaven... (Sung to the closing lines of Stairway)

Anyone remember 94.7 KMET?

I actually did the countdown to KWAVE. It was like watching (or listening) to a friend die rights before your eyes, I mean ears...
