I've been a real slacker over here on this blog. I apologize for having nothing relevant to say lately. I hope to get myself out of this "funk" I'm in and back into the happy go lucky rocker that is the real me.
In the meantime:
What do you think of the cover of the Rolling Stone? I had fun trying to recognize everyone but there were quite a few I didn't know. I did notice all my faves were right there in front where they belong :)

I've been boycotting Rolling Stone on general principle since 1992.
1992 was Chicago's first year of elgibility for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Who is one of the heads of the nominating committee? Jann Wenner, editor of Rolling Stone. He's made no secret of his distaste for Chicago (for that matter Chicago has made no secret of their distaste for his magazine-- Peter Cetera once said in an interview, "Yeah I read Rolling Stone, usually when I'm taking a shit.")
14 years later Chicago has not only not been inducted they've never even been nominated. Next to the Beach Boys they are the top-selling American rock group in rock and roll history. While their latter day material hurt their image and thus their chances for induction, they deserve to be inducted on the merits of their first 5 albums alone-- let alone the rest of their material.
As a result Chicago is one of the handful of music groups conspicuously absent from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame:
Chicago
King Crimson
Emerson Lake & Palmer
Rush

Perplex, you are such a great source of info! I rarely read the mag but am getting a free subscription.
I knew there was a reason RS Mag bugged me - now I know what it is!
ELP????? I ADORE THEM?
thanks for the heads up on this!
I am a subscriber to Rolling Stone basically only because it is a gift. I will agree they are a rather lackluster group of critics. I've never seen such poor music reviews in my life. I'm not exactly sure what they are listening to half the time they rate these albums. I did indeed get the 1,000 issue though, and I was able to name around 90% of the people. I haven't gotten around to reading the articles yet but it looks like there is a good one on Lennon, I might try to read it today. And when regarding the Rock and Roll Hall of fame it seems as if they have something against prog rock which is a shame.
I detest RS. What a piece of crap rag that is. I used to like it, way back in the day. Now it's just ridiculous.
