Backstage with Bruce

If you were a big time rock star, what would you request to have backstage at your shows?

Here's the list from a tour in '92. At least he's relatively healthy in his choices -

Pete Townsend has a Blog!

This is so cool - Lately I've been thinking about picking up the guitar and learning how to play. I haven't played in years so it will be a challenge, but I just FEEL the need, the passion, the desire - to not only HEAR music, but to make some of my own.

Here is the cool part - all day long I was doubting this, listening to the negatives in my head "no, don't bother, you'll never be any good, you're too old, it's just a passing whim, you won't practice..."

Then - I got a SIGN! I ran across
Pete Townsend's blog.

Don't you agree that's a SIGN!!! I am totally jazzed and can't wait to get my guitar and start playing! '
Check out Pete's blog, as my friend Rick says, "The best part is his profile: "I'm in a rock band." How's that for understated elegance?"

I left him a comment - watch him stop by here, I'd die!!

Van Halen, Halen Halen, Roth

I think Wolfie looks a lot like his mom - and his dad. Why am I so excited about this? I feel like I am 20 years old again. But when I look at these guys - knowing they are all my age - why wouldn't I want to see them again?

I just have to find someone to go with me. My sister said she would be EMBARRASSED. I say WHO CARES!

Anyone out there from the LA area that wants to go? (LA as in Los Angeles, not Louisiana)

Another Aussie - Nick Cave

Been listening to Nick Cave tonight...do any of you know him? I downloaded about 7 songs and they are all so different from each other - hard to peg him with a genre but I told my iPod he was "alternative".

There's something about Aussie men - I just love 'em. Well, especially one (and he knows it).

Love Songs

I found a list of 249 songs with the word "LOVE" in the title.

How many can you list. I'll throw out a few obvious ones:

Love Me Do
Love Me Tender
Baby, I Love Your Way
Addicted to Love
Tunnel of Love
Love Stinks
and this song that says it all:
I LOVE ROCK AND ROLL!

(oh, by the way - Happy Valentine's Day!)

Mid 40's or over? Reminice:

Bruce had a really good post today, it brought me back some great music memories of my youth.
Of course, there's a litany of these songs from that era that, when you go back and look at them, you say to yourself, "Oh yeah, that's what that song was about!" And in most cases, you appreciate them even more. Music had so much more meaning then; I miss it. Maybe I'm just getting old.

Classic Rock Quiz

Ok, I am not going to reveal my score on this - it was PATHETIC. Its listed as a "tough" quiz and it is. In my defense....some of the questions are not really related to music - like who knows when Stevie Nicks was born? Although, I can tell you off the top of my head that Bruce was born 9/23/49 :)

Here's the LINK

For an extra point - does anyone recognize these guys:

Prince of the Super Bowl

I was a bit disturbed that Prince was doing the halftime show at the Super Bowl. I mean really - PRINCE. Or as he was known for a while: (the artist formerly known as Prince). It just doesn't seem like it goes with his style. I didn't see it so I can't comment but my buddy Mike thought it was a good thing, and I trust him.

Here are Mike's thoughts on Prince at the Bowl
