Rosalita

Reason to Rock: Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)

I LOVE this website and have linked to it before. Here is someone else's "review" of one of the greatest songs ever recorded LIVE or otherwise. Seeing this song performed live is one of my musical highlights every time Bruce does it. Here is a small sample of what this insightful person had to say:

"This song has it all. The lyrics are funny, personal and idiosyncratic, bringing you into touch with real people and real situations. The song describes liberation from parents, from traditional social structures, from the boring world of adult toil, and into authentic love, community, adventure and art. The structure of the song is fluid and full of surprises, liberating itself from traditional forms as it goes. The playing of the band is strong and supple. The instruments are as restless as the singer, yet moving in perfect sympathy and synchronicity with him. Together they perform as one cohesive unit, yet with room for all the individual parts, and allowing them all full freedom of expression.

This is rock music at its best."

Reason to Rock: Bruce Springsteen

TODAY BRUCE RELEASES "DEVILS AND DUST" AND I AM ON MY WAY TO THE MUSIC STORE RIGHT NOW!

April 26 Update:

Got the CD and it's just what I expected...I like it, but it's another Ghost of Tom Joad/Nebraska - ish recording. The third song is very risque for Bruce (I blushed) but I understand what he's saying. Apparently most of the songs are written from the perspective of a soilder that is either in Iraq during the war, or has returned home. Still bidding on E-Bay for tickets. Time is running out. So is my money :(

U 2

Bono

U2Station.com Welcome

Sometimes official websites for great bands can be too predictable. I like to see what the fans put together. This is a good one for the world's greatest band! Okay, another disclaimer needed. Of course if you are reading these in the opposite of order than I posted them in, not problem. BUT...they are the greatest when it comes to LYRICS and passion and talent and views on life...love...God.... Trivia about me: I have seen over 100 concerts, all the "greats" but I have never seen U2. I will see them. I don't care what I have to pay, I WILL SEE THEM THIS FALL, even if I have to fly to antoher state/country to do it (I get a bonus in Sept.)

My Chemical Romance Posted by Hello

This is what my son is listening to...along with Green Day, Eminem, Seether, Blink 182 and of course all my faves that he says he doesn't like...but I hear him singing Zeppelin or the Bruce all the time when he's by himself. :)

Robert Palmer

I miss Robert Palmer. His death was a surprise. He had a lot of class and was a great vocalist.

Queen

Posted by Hello

I don't have a site that links to Queen.
There are so many I couldn't choose the one I liked the best.
From what I understand, Freddie Mercury had a heart of gold. It was sad that he passed through this life so quickly, but he left so much great music behind.

Rolling Stones

Rolling Stones - Keno's ROLLING STONES Web Site

Once again, my buddy Keno has a cool website. He thinks the Stones are the best rock band ever...I'd have to agree. (note: this is the fourth band I have called "THE greatest", I guess I can't make up my mind)

I have loved Mick and the band since I was a kid. My parents said he was UGLY but I had posters on my wall and still think he's a doll to this day. No laser or face lifts for Jagger...the wrinkles only make him look wiser.

If you read anything else I have written you know that the above contradicts my previous statement that Zep is the best (and U2, and Springsteen), but in my mind there are categories of rock n roll. The Stones represent, to me, Sex, Drugs and Rock N Roll.

Zeppelin represents the Mystically Passionate Enlightened Energy that can only come from deep inside one's own mind while being transported to another place without leaving the floor (the best place to listen to them). LSD optional.

U2 is Spirituality, Passion, Art, Genius - music that goes beyond style or genre or generation, it's just so damn meaningful, beautiful and/or fun.

And Bruce, well he's just good old Bruce. To know him for over 20 years I can't help but love the guy. See my post about him for more of why I think he's one of the greatest performers of all time.

Aerosmith.com

BEWARE!
This is LOUD...if you open this link and have speakers, be prepared!

The second concert of my life was Aerosmith back in '75. Loved the boys then and now. Always thought of them as the American Stones because they both rocked and had a flambouyant front man with big lips. Steven Tyler just keeps getting better. Joe Perry is one of the best.

Train

Train

I'll admit, this band probably does not fit into the category of classic rock, but boy do they ever jam! I will also admit that I have no idea what the names of any of the band is except for:

PATRICK MONAHAN!

These guys are SO FUN in concert! Can't wait to see them again.
Hope I don't have to wait too long...

Good memory: singing "Drops of Jupiter" with Blane :)

Question: Is Lenny Kravitz "Classic Rock?"

Answer: No, but he's classic, and he ROCKS!

Bad Company - Rock and Roll at It's Best!

Takes me back to the 70's. Reminds me of my sister. "Shooting Star" is the best song about being a rock star ever written...could have been written about Kurt Cobain.

HEART

Let me go C R A Z Y on you ............ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Janis was the first female to kick some ass on stage, but these two come in second in my book. Another tragedy - their careers faded when Ann got too fat. My friend and Ann have the same surgeon and have both lost a ton of weight via gastric bypass. I say, more power to them! I just bought tickets to see them perform this July. It will be the first time I've seen them in over 20 years, should be a kick

Me and Peter

the closest I ever got to meeitng him...too bad! Posted by Hello
This highy under-rated musician. He made it too big, too fast and then signed up for a role in a really lame movie that ruined his career (that's what "they" say anyhow).
He's a talented and kind person. I LOVE HIS MUSIC! One of the best concerts ever...

Drugs. That's that I think off when I think of Pink Floyd. I love David Gilmore, I loved their music (don't listen much anymore).

Pink Floyd took me to another dimension, literally. May 1977, Anaheim Stadium, The Animals Tour, red wine, LSD, lying on the grass, watching the huge inflated animals floating overhead, listening to Comfortably Numb and Wish you Were Here, Jon, Kathy, Scott, Frans. I never wanted that concert to end.
