Vote for the Best Album

I am copying this idea from my local radio station, 100.3 The Sound.  They recently asked listeners to vote on which album they thought was the best and by the process of elimination, over two weeks, they came up with the one album that beat out all the others.

So, I am doing a mini-version of that. Here is the first round, vote for which of these you would choose:

  1. Stevie Wonder - Innervisions  or Carole King - Tapestry
  2. Foo Fighters - Colour and the Shape or Pearl Jam - Ten
  3. Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced? or Van Morrison - Moondance
  4. Green Day - American Idiot or Oasis - What's the Story Morning Glory?
  5. Allman Brothers - Brothers & Sisters or Traffic - John Barleycorn
  6. The Cars - The Cars or Pretenders - Pretenders
  7. The Eagles - Hotel California or Led Zeppelin - 2
  8. Jane's Addiction - Nothing Shocking or Nirvana - Unplugged

  9. I'd like to add that I would take Moondance over either Stevie or Carole.

  10. Innervisions
The Colour and the Shape is my two year old son's favorite. I'll go with Ten as I have heard Monkey Wrench more times than even Dave Grohl has.
    Are You Experienced?
    American Idiot
Allman Brothers - Brothers & Sisters
    Pretenders - Pretenders
    Led Zeppelin - 2
    Nirvana - Unplugged

  11. Layla:
Can we hava new list? There's a lotta weak stuff here....
Pretenders over the Cars, tho the Cars' 1st is a VERY nice collection of pop songs (LOVE the last 3 trax). Pretenders' 1st got me thru 1980 alive, cos I knew no matter how bad a day I was having, no WAY was it worse than the day Chrissie Hynde had....
MOONDANCE is mostly great stuff, specially "Into the Mystic."
Am I really qualified 2 vote, cos those 3 R probly the only 1's I've heard all the way thru...? Traffic's album has 1 good track, "Glad" -- the rest's pretty dull, like they always were. The Hendrix hasa coupla classics. The Green Day has 1 GREAT track, "Holiday," which sounds JUST LIKE the Sex Pistols. Allman Bros' "Ramblin Man" & "Jessica" R both great.... ZEP 2 hasa coupla great songs. HOTEL CALI has 1 great song that got played WAY 2 much.... Nirvana's Unplugged hasa few GREAT songs ("All Apologies," "Man Who Sold the World," "Lake of Fire"). Carole King WROTE some great songs, & "It's Too Late" is a classic, but TAPESTRY's VERY overrated & locked-in2 its time....
Am I at the wrong website? Mosta this stuff bores the heck outta me. New list, please...?
    Best!-- TAD.

  17. I'm shocked that so many people chose American Idiot over What's the Story Morning Glory. Oasis was supposed to be the next coming of The Beatles after that album came out.

  18. Key phrase, supposed to be. I love Noel and Liam but they believed their own press a bit more than I ever did.

  19. Starrlight - True, but it was still an incredible album regardless of how idiotic the brothers are. Granted, American Idiot is very good too, but I would have never thought that it would have been a nearly unaniumous decission to choose American Idiot over Morning Glory.

  20. To me AI is a classic protest album while Morning Glory is a classic homage album.

AI captured the zeitgeist of a time way more than WTSMG did. It was the Bush Years. In 1995 I loved Oasis with a passion but that whole zeitgeist thing was owned by Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness for me and my friends. We were all rats in cages.

It was a close one though!

  21. I'd sooner root for the Cubs(I'm a Cardinals fan) than listen to anything by Oasis; that's how much I can't stand those untalented hacks. That's akin to Rush Limbaugh jumping over to the Democratic party. And I've always been a huge Traffic fan, so that was an easy choice for me.

  22. Sorry, I'm a bit late on this one. But here goes...

    1. Carole King
    2. Foo Fighters
    3. Hendrix
    4. Oasis
    5. Traffic
    6. Pretenders
    7. Led Zep
    8. Nirvana

Always like to be a bit contraversial! When's the next one?
