80 Hours of 80's Music

Has anyone been watching VH1 Classics over this weekend? Wow, the memories. I noticed several things about the 80's music videos:

  • hair bands were a dime a dozen
  • women were scantily clad and objectified
  • there were some VERY embarrassing cheesy videos made
  • some boys are way prettier than girls

Any 80's music memories?

  2. Oh my – too many 80’s music memories to even scratch the surface. I recall being a young teenager and here in Canada a show aired Friday nights called Good Rockin’ Tonight. I rarely missed it, and how I loved the hairbands, starting in the early 80’s and peaking in the later part of the decade. I also remember a little later when we had our driver’s license. We’d drive around Sunday afternoons listening to Casey Kasem’s Top 40, and what a different show it was, filled with rock and roll and all those hairbands. Great memories from a carefree time!!

  3. Yeah. You know how I told you last night about finding all those 80's music magazines in my parents attic? Well as I was looking through them last night, my 12 year old son kept pointing to pictures and asking "Who is she?" except he was pointing to pictures of MALE rockers. It cracked me up.

  4. I've been trying to watch that marathon too. I noticed something - a lot of albums were named after the hit single!

We get VH1 Soul too, the next channel from VH1 Classic. They've been playing Prince-related videos and such all weekend.

  6. Hey Jess, you don't hear me saying they weren't hot! They WERE! I think a lot bands were based on looks more than talent ;)

My only memories of the 80s were the ones I purposely laid down on a chopping block and severed with a giant cleaver. What a soulless wretched period of time, filled with utter filth and decadence, not to mention bad clothing and bad hair.

Sadly, take a look around ... it's coming back.

A couple of lame questions for you or for anyone else who would want to respond regarding Blogger.

-When I comment to a Blogger blog Anon. The blog author will see no information from me?

-If I comment with a Username and Password which is the name I used to setup the gmail account (Username). The gmail address being the (Password). Does the blog author see my gmail address?

-Lastly, if I want to start a blog with Blogger. Does anyone know of an up to date on-line tutorial for Blogger or do you just Google for Blogger blog information and go from there?
Told you these were lame questions.
    Thanks for any assistance.

  14. Hi Anon,

These questions aren’t lame at all! They are really good.

-When I comment to a Blogger blog Anon. The blog author will see no information from me?

This is correct as far as your name and/or blog if you have one. BUT a lot of Bloggers use “stat counters” or “site meters” which gives data on who visits their blog, like city, state, country, time visited, etc. But no names.

-If I comment with a Username and Password which is the name I used to setup the gmail account (Username). The gmail address being the (Password). Does the blog author see my gmail address?

No, they will not see your address. You can keep your address off your blog as well so that no one can connect you to your email.

-Lastly, if I want to start a blog with Blogger. Does anyone know of an up to date on-line tutorial for Blogger or do you just Google for Blogger blog information and go from there?

Blogger does a good job of walking you through the steps but there are a few sites I have found that have good info for beginners. I will look it up later come back here and post the link. You can keep your blog anonymous if you want to and I’d be happy to help you set one up and answer questions, I have helped a few people and think its fun to get another Blogger out there!!!

Feel free to email me or leave me comments here.

A blog without comments is like a guitar without strings, so please feel free to leave one!
