AND OF COURSE ALL OF THE STUFF I GREW UP LISTENING TOO. So for now they are definite rock and rollers and can sing the words to many classics. We’ll see what happens when they get older. However, being a teacher for over a decade now I have worked with many teenagers. There is always a large group of kids who love rock and roll including classic rock (which now is up to and including the 80’s or later – yikes). There is always the hip hop crowd too, but rock and roll will never die!! lol

http://the-brigade.blogspot.com/The Rock Brigade Bloggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17231892989747596966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11886706.post-28141462845373250042009-08-07T16:24:16.794-07:002009-08-07T16:24:16.794-07:00I took the cop out way and cut and pasted from my ...I took the cop out way and cut and pasted from my kids My Space. Since they were born I have tried to brainwash them with KISS music and merchandise. Even though they know their KISStory, fate takes a hand and they find their kind of music.

My oldest daughter is a huge Twisted Sister fan.....through the 'I Wanna Rock' Spongebob tune titled 'Goofy Goober Rock'. Now she can sing word for word STAY HUNGRY & LOVE IS FOR SUCKERS along with some of the other big tunes on the other few records. I am taking her to see the band live on 9/12 in Plymouth, MA.

She has also started to raid my CD collection to sample different bands. AC/DC has become her second favorite band and she walks around the house with her Ipod on singing the entire BACK IN BLACK album. Other bands in her Ipod besides TS, AC/DC & KISS -- GnR, Van Halen, Queen, Motorhead, Saxon, Scorpions, Alice Cooper and Autograph. It's fun to see CDs missing from my cases and finding them in her room with a list of songs & albums for me to load into her Itunes.

My youngest follows what her sister does and she enjoys songs like TNT, School's Out, and Rock And Roll All Nite.

Steve
Heavy Metal Addiction
http://heavymetaladdiction.comRhodeislandrockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01786405069419557331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11886706.post-64191915870257337822009-08-07T15:45:31.536-07:002009-08-07T15:45:31.536-07:00Thanks to Guitar Hero, my 12 year old likes most o...Thanks to Guitar Hero, my 12 year old likes most of the stuff I get into. But with you as a dad, how can he go wrong. That kid has seen some great shows. I think live music really makes a difference.

Oldrocker, that is so cool that you and your son go to shows! She loved Natalie Imbruglia, Matchbox 20, U2, Goo Goo Dolls, and her favorite was Savage Garden. She liked modern rock too and I managed to get her into the Beatles who are currently all over her ipod.

I am surprised about the number of young people who like classic rock. I believe that is because too much of the modern stuff is depressing. Most modern rock is about rebellion and alienation with too many "whoa is me lyrics." Of course, classic rock had some of that too, but it also had a lot more. How many modern songs have lyrics as intelligent as "Eleanor Rigby," or lyrics like Dylan wrote, or likes like Paul Simon wrote.Charlie Riccihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06930103645729165149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11886706.post-74110665646963390972009-08-07T02:15:54.264-07:002009-08-07T02:15:54.264-07:00I've been trying to educate my daughter, now a...I've been trying to educate my daughter, now aged 9 but the Beatles bore her rigid, yet she does like Keane and Crowded House so she has an ear for melody.
